Being a Democrat in a largely Republican state, I'm surrounded by the conservative religious right preaching their God and how if the Bible says it's wrong, it's wrong, despite interpretation of the law. This is a democracy, not a theocracy.. and government law outwieghs biblical law. I am a strong supported of LGBT rights and equality in this country and it seems that the gay community in the 21st century are the black community of the 20th.

My question is how can sexuality be genetic? And if it is, how can a homosexual get a gene from two heterosexuals/ Psychologically, I can see how the characterization of a person can be changed through childhood that would lead them to homosexuality, but through that lifestyle, life cannot spring forth, and if life cannot spring forth and death will nonetheless ensue, then how does the homosexual gene reproduce?
Why is this even part of the argument? There is evidence that homosexuality is a gene, and there is evidence it is chosen. If your point is that you think it is chosen, fine. That does not suggest that it is wrong. If sexuality is indeed a choice, then you have chosen to be heterosexual. Those who denied marriage rights to gay couples are persecuting gays. And no, the US isn't Christian based. In fact, it's quite the opposite. The First Amendment states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.... That means laws are NOT set to uphold religious beliefs (so put the bible away).
Also, people aren't just speaking their minds, they've actually taken rights away from tax-paying citizens based on their own religious beliefs. Yes, that is persecution.

My question is how can sexuality be genetic? And if it is, how can a homosexual get a gene from two heterosexuals/ Psychologically, I can see how the characterization of a person can be changed through childhood that would lead them to homosexuality, but through that lifestyle, life cannot spring forth, and if life cannot spring forth and death will nonetheless ensue, then how does the homosexual gene reproduce?

Why is this even part of the argument? There is evidence that homosexuality is a gene, and there is evidence it is chosen. If your point is that you think it is chosen, fine. That does not suggest that it is wrong. If sexuality is indeed a choice, then you have chosen to be heterosexual. The only argument that you can make is that some religions teach that it is wrong, and that has nothing to do with civil rights.

the words you need to look at is "natural" and "unnatural". this scripture in romans says that one shouldn't engage in sexual relations this is foreign or "unnatural" to him/her. so for me, as a gay man, to engage in hetero sex will be unnatural for me and i'll be committing a sin. get your shit right you moron before you start using the bible as a expression of hate and discrimination.

First let me start by saying i'm straight. now then, It doesn't matter at all what you think god says about this matter. there's a seperation between church and state, so religion can't influence law. And another thing, the constitution is the supreme law of the land. If it says everyone is equal, then everyone is equal and therefore everyone has the right to marry whoever they want. Banning gay-marriage is unconstitutional, religion doesn't matter, end of discussion. Learn to use logic.

I have nothing against gay and lesbians. I understand and agree that if they should be able to have the same insurance, healthcare etc. But i Definately think it is WRONG to allow them to me married. Your beliefs should have no effect on laws. Religion was meant to be kept out of state and government. If you want marriage to be a solely religious institution, then take it out of all laws etc. That way, something else can be for everyone who wants benefits and to be recognized by the gov't, and you religious bums can keep your marriage.

I have no problem with anyone's religion. I merely say that I'm not affected by their beliefs, because I don't believe any of the make-believe "faith". Why do they care what I do or don't believe, and why would they want to be rulers over the sex matters of strangers?

Adopting unwanted children is a "chore" I gladly am doing without. I can avoid bigoted charities, plenty of others will happily accept my checks. All of those things and places that want to keep gays away are the same ones I don't want any part of anyway.
I spent years as a teacher, until I finally realized how unnecessary the headaches and the pains teachers are subjected to were. Eventually I figured they can all find another fool. Since then I've tripled my income and never looked back.
