  • Looks like a gravity gun from Half-Life. lol

  • @mrkyleabc never played half life but thats neat!

  • Does it emit any radio activity if a voltage/electric current is applied to this alone?

  • @CognitiveNetwork do you mean radio waves or radiation?

  • @quicknuclearscience radiation

  • @CognitiveNetwork they will shoot out x-rays at you when they are being used at over about 15kV. In CRT TV's they have lead paint coating the bulb of the tv so inside the tv no worries but alone shielding is needed.

  • @quicknuclearscience Good to know it is radio-passive beneath 15kV then. But radiation still get's through the vacuum tv's. That's why I love plasma. They cause no headache no matter how close I am. However, these little things are quite fascinating, but unfortunately are not useful within consumer electronics for other means then to produce images... operational amplifiers though, are much more useful...

  • @CognitiveNetwork they still produce radation below 15kV but i don't think it is enough to be harmful. And yes plasma is better but as you said these are very fascinating and fun to play with even if they aren't useful.

  • did you gargle sand before you recorded this?
