Can't really compare this to the 90's recession can U? And what about the 'terrorist attack' that happened in the beginning of this decade? First we have a crisis (Cuban Missiles, 9/11, Damn near every decade sees a recession etc) then we become proud Americans. Beck, or somebody, really made use of the Akai s900 sampler on this record...I think it's still the most creative use of sampling I've ever heard.

Sadly Beck has never been able to take his recent work anywhere near the other-wordly sounds of this gem, many artists influenced by Beck have improved and perfected this sound however.
