typical hicks ruining something that's sacred....why trade a high performance engine for a piece of shit chevy engine.....way to ruin a legendary car.....
That is BADASS! Oh and to everyone trying to put down the LS7, do some research on it before saying its a heavy piece of crap motor. The LS7 in the current C6 ZO6 pumps out 505hp/475tq. The one in this video has ported heads and a nice cam minimum. It should be somewhere close to 600wheel HP with those changes, not bad at all.
great job took out the original and magnificent low-point-of-gravity boxer engine with a top-heavy and over-sized benzine-hungry tractor-sounding engine
@omfgwtfbbq90 the ls7 in there now is far superior in technology then its original engine. if this were a newer porsche i could see your point, but it isnt.
and what about the weight distribution now? i dont think that its got handling like a cranked up 911 turbo cs like my dads one with definately more power than this v8 ... why didnt you put a 928 5.4l engine into it? at least its made of aluminum and some other lightweight materials. completely.
@c4tze The LS7 is a full aluminum motor. Block and heads are aluminum and the valves are titanium. It is a small block motor (its not an old school big block 427) that is based off the full aluminum LS2 block. It is extremely light. That car is still probably very balanced actually. In the Z06 platform that it was designed for, it makes 505hp and 475lb-ft of torque naturally aspirated. Plenty of power for that 911!
@c4tze Understandable! Just wanted to let you know. All of GM's LS V8's (4th generation blocks) are great engines. Raw power and torque in a lightweight package with a sound that is unbeatable. Well, in my opinion anyway. Sounds like you have some nice cars tho man! Take it easy.
@GMguy91 inheritaged ;) i once thougt about upgrading the 928 with one of those awesome 4.2 or 5.7 litre v8 made of magnesium and aluminum that audi and bmw makes. super lightweight but triple super expensive and only achievable from the scrapyard sadly. are there any pictures including a documentary of the swapping process? i have no idea what size those ls engines are.
@c4tze Maybe there's a forum or something about the swap done here, not sure! This is actually the first time I have heard about an LS7 swap in a Porsche. What you see in this car is a 427 cubic inch V8. It displaces 7.0 liters. It is based off the same block as the LS2 which is a 365 cubic inch V8. It displaces 6.0 liters. And there are many more. LS1, LS2, LS3, LS4, LS6, LS7, and LS9 (from the Corvette ZR-1). They are all aluminum small block V-8's. Lightweight and powerful!
If this guy did a burnout in it he'd swing around faster than you can count 1 miss...CRASH! That's gotta make that car have even worse weight distribution!
Nice job!! I swapped a 331 SBF V8 in my Miata; coming from a fellow big engine swapper in a small sports car, I can honestly say that your Porsche has to be one heck of a ride! Again, nice job!
@Mr1987GTA maybe motors, but cars? LOL.fact: most american cars are heavy pieces of shit. im pretty sure that porsche ways less than most american cars we have now....and actually, american motors are low rpm revving noise bombs. yeah, there are fast american cars, but anyone would take a 911 gt3 over a dodge charger.....
Pity the wine sipping Gucci wearing snot nosed yuppie happening upon this "proper" American powered german "Sports-car"..........all the German turbos in the world can't help that poor yuppie......from being stomped out on the open road.

@JohnnyGMachine Not really to be honest, if anything the LS7 might be lighter given that it's all alloy vs the porsches cast iron block.
