Enough about all this age crap. Who cares if youre 14, 16, or 18. Im young as well, and I can tell you theres nothing special about it. Not everybody listens to all the new music out there, thats just what the mainstream portrays. You're not special.
@khongbiet1000 The Dogs In Space soundtrack is great. I listened to it a lot back when I was in high school (twenty years ago). I went back and watched the movie again a few years ago, and it doesn't quite live up to the memories, but the soundtrack does stand the test of time. I can see why you cite it in reference to this song. I agree that people who like Joy Division will like it.
These were the glorious days you'd rush to the record shop on pay day to get yet another vinyl gem.Turntable, stereo, big speakers, high volume.God,how has the world become so fucked....or did we just get old?
@Stube437 No, it wasn't. I've been doing a bit of research, and I believe that this version dates from a recording session in March 1979 which was produced not by Hannett, but another Martin, Martin Rushent (also a well-known producer who passed very recently). 5 songs were recorded at this session (known collectively as the "Genetic Demos") and they are all on the Heart and Soul box set. I agree with you that Martin Hannett's single mix is far superior.
@birdandthe If you don't like it then get lost....Just because you don't appreciate punk doesn't mean the rest of us have to be as narrow minded as you. We enjoy it so fuck off.
how come this is billed as warsaw when it was recorded in may 1978 when they had been joy division for five months ? someone making money i suppose, it is misleading and factually incorrect. this is joy division
@slangshotstudios its rubbish !!!!! the band was still not playing correctly at this point, they were i would guess another 4 to six months away from playing something like unknown pleasures, the single in 1979 is light years ahead of this, just goes to show bands can be pretty shit for quite a long time then something changes and a transformation occurs, enter martin hannet
@9caps2hell cretin, so you would be happy with this version to put out as a single eh ? it wouldent sell 50 copies, wheres the bass ? !!!!!!!! the overall sound is so dull !!! the 'radio' sounds are ridiculous !!!!!!!!!!! ian clearly has not worked out how to sing it properly, so whats thepoint in pretending its a great recording when its not even a pale shadow of the hannett recording ? you thick twat

Shite......this always makes me think of listening to a walkman with an earplug....so my parents couldnt hear.........guess that ages me...but this tune was before its time and reminds me of those times when you couldnt make out all the words so you made up your own.
This isn't a re-issue. It's a CD issue of the original album that the band thought was too crap to release. AFAIK, it was released without the band's approval.
The only interest of the CD is to realise what they were like before Hannett did what he did with them.
@jezosaurus, it shows how much greater JD was than everyone else. This album sounds like its on the level of a Ramone's album. Even a band as well loved and influencing as the Ramones wasn't good enough to push forward. But JD knew there was something better to be reached...

warsaw played at deeply vale apparently ,iwas there though i got stoned and missed it unfortunately still here and now were good i also read ian brown gave em a lift home i regret because i'd love to see a truly great band in their early days
actually i think the slower bass fits, its a song about technology and society, the bass with the drums sounds like a carrier signal, with the mix of the synths in the back, the only organic sound is the guitar, which i think makes it.
@fubuxjenk i do think that the slower bass is ideal because of that signal effect but to me, it's done just for the sake of making it sound like a transmission signal. where the song structure is concerned, the faster bass sounds better. this version isn't as energetic as the version we all know
lol im 13 from australia!!! i got into this coz my whole family are artists and i watched control when i was 12 and yer.... this is so different......... id doesnt really sou nd like warsaw either... :)
THE GUY WHO UPLODED THIS IS SIXTEEN !!!!! fuck! well done boy i started listening this at your age, now im 18 and found this tracks wonderfull. i thought you might be around 50... this is an example of who some youngs do on good music
I've been listening to Joy Divison/Warsaw since I was 14 (and I'm American and 16 at the moment). The song that introduced me to them is New Order's "Blue Monday" ironically..
Itunes are are for people like you who cant be arsed to get off their arses and look for vintage records. How can you enjoy music when theyres no sleeve or cover to go with it.
@Podesta16 I would agree with you but you won't see me crusing around on my bmx with a record player! I'll just rip em off youtube and enjoy em just as much as you.
@Podesta16 bit hard for me as a 14 yr old when my parents hate this kind of music and would much rather me like justin dickhead bieber, don't exactly have a local old records shop ... young kids these days.. discover music through youtube and itunes. not many visit record shops, if u want this kind of music to go down generations, you need to start embracing internet culture
@WarsawRevision In 1993, my partner at the time found it as an L.P. bootleg-cover style - still called Warsaw & the picture alone made it clear who the band was - for $20 Australian, probably about the same price at the time. The only thing is, Warsaw was a good deal slower in tempo on that than this version, which was kinda weird at first 'cos I'd only heard it on Substance, but it became my favourite version!
people lets enjoy this music its good and far from this superficial bullshit if anything i dont think good music has an age limit for anyone
