They'll be irrelevant for a while yeah. But unless Obama grows a set of balls to go along with his winning smile, and actually starts to go after torturers, clean up the banks, end the phantom war on terrorism and so forth, I don't see the Reps changing, and they might get into power again frighteningly soon, and continue to ride the road of Bushist ideas until the US finally destroys itself in an orgy of costly failure.
When Forrest Gump was quoted saying "Stupid is....as Stupid Does" was he personally referring to W, Scarah Failin, Ban Coulter, Flush Dimbaugh, Cheney, Jindal, Rove, Nitt-Witt-Mitt Romney, OR the entire dumb-shit RepubliCON clan?
A SPECIAL thanks to the above hypocritical morons for making the RepubliCON Party nearly extinct!

The GOP as we know it is dead, if they stay this same way they'll never go anywhere but downhill. All the key and growing demographics like Hispanics are voting Dem now. They lose women and minorities, people under 40, both Coasts, the Northeast, most of the Midwest and only have voter registration advantages in 7 states and two of those just barely. It's not the same as the Dems in 2004, they have serious systemic problems with their party and ideology.
the republican party responded to trouble by contracting. they've gotten so small its just michelle bachman, sarah palin, and rush limbaugh now.
if they dont change direction and start expanding to include new people, a third party will have to fill the gap. Atheist Libertarians, anyone, anyone?
The party of torture. I have never seen a party hang it's own. Self . God we didn't have to do anything they just self destructed on their own and I'm loving it . Can't wait for them to be extinct really..

Both parties are the same party. We must march upon Washington and forcibly remove all those rats and replace them with honest people. Can that ever happen?
I'm rather indifferent to Specter (which is more than I can say for most of the GOP), but if he can give us a few key votes in exchange for support in 2010, I'm all for it. He better switch his view on EFCA, though, or the unions in PA will put up a Dem in the primary.
I would really like to see a reconstituted Republican party if it held true fiscal responsibility, the rights of small businesses, the true intent of the founding fathers and hesitancy to become involved in foreign entanglements as its core beliefs. No more sucking up to fringe elements, bigots, religious fanatics and corporatists. America really needs something like this to counter balance the tendencies of the fringe elements of the Democrats in check.
"No more sucking up to fringe elements, bigots, religious fanatics and corporatists"...
Uhmmm - PW, doesn't that pretty much leave approximately 37 Goldwater conservatives to fill the big tent? You've just described the base that Sarah Palin was dragged in to appeal to.
As that party now sits? Yes it does. But how many of the continually burgeoning mass of independent voters once belonged to the old school GOP? 80, 90 percent?
Maybe, juuuuust maybe, the GOP can finally rid itself of the taint of the Robber Barons that has lingered since they took over the party in the late 1800's.
The GOP has ran its course for two reasons, racist and religion. I'm not saying that all Republicans are racist or religious zealots but they let the people that are have to much of a voice in their party. Extreme environmentalist and secular people are represented in the Democratic party to a point but the far left hasn't took a strangle hold on the party overall.
Both parties should be completely destroyed and replaced with 2 new ones.

Most of the Midwest?
C'mon, the Republican Party is very popular in Indiana.
The Hoosier State has a Republican governor, a Republican senator, and a conservative political climate.

Thats tough though
The Libertarian party is actually religious in nature
For atheists to take it over, they have an uphill battle, and thats not good since the party itself already has an uphill battle in general
Also, I have noticed that most atheists are liberals, not libertarian, so you already have a shortage of atheist libertarians so far as I can tell
I myself am always looking on how to improve the democratic party as an independent liberal, or await a new liberal party

Libertarianism = Religious belief in the worst possible form of capitalism, mixed with anarchist punkassery.
It was invented by a millionaire, and is most popular amongst rich white teen brats.

If you think they're rats blame the people. The people are the idiots. You need to forcibly stop yourself from voting.
Of course, I don't think like you. There are real differences, and only someone so disenchanted couldn't see it. I doubt you even vote.
pokemanz 2 years ago 2
I do see some differences in the two parties but on major issues they are the same. They are rats.
I vote.
Thanks for the nice comment

Well not all reps and senators are rats. Some are honest like Dennis K.
