  • love this version! lots better than the Yes version by a long shot

  • Disgruntled 70s prog-heads ... who can't stand it that Asia can play their songs, and play them pretty well ... And that John Wetton can sing about anything ... be it this or "In the Court Of the Crimson King".

And of course it was slightly slower, than Yes' live version - Wetton has to play bass AND sing it; in Yes they had a separate bass player, and singer (Jon Anderson). Duh .. Has nothing to do with the band's musical ability (which equals that of Yes, and ELP any day of the week).

  • I love you all you guys, but I really think it's about time to hang it up....

  • not easy to sing like Jon . What was he singing about anyway?

  • nearly as bad as when rabin slaughtered it....puke.

  • Sucks CAttle cock

  • Nothing shy of horrible! Did they even practice it? You'de think they would have said something like, "Wow, that just sucked. Maybe we should just stick to Asia songs so we don't make fools of our selves." But, I guess hey didn't say that!

  • oh boy...

  • damn yea this is really slow these guys are gettin to fuckin old

  • kind of a ....poor version

  • Yikes.

  • Well, I just be a monkey's uncle! I was just wondering who the cutie was on the keyboards and read it is Geoff Downes, who I just learned was the keyboard player in the song Tempus Fugit..which was just a little before my time but I just watched it with Geoff in it back when he was very young! Coool...Steve Howe and Geoff Downes, which I didn't realize was Asia's keyboardist. :)

  • w o w. i t i s s o s l o w.

  • Palmer's playing this too straight. It doesn't match what Wetton's playing.

  • Simply LOVE THIS VIDEO~!

  • and Palmer it's surely not the great Bruford on drums. Sorry guys...but thanx for the video. My appreciation.

  • I like it! A bit of a higher register for Wetton-- the problem with YES is that John Anderson's vocals are basically uncoverable, unless you're Geddy Lee!

  • Carl Palmer drumming on Roundabout you've got too love it!!! I always thought Carl Palmer would have been a much better fill in drummer for Genesis than Bill Bruford was in 76, but if we're going too be dreaming lets also wish Kieth Emerson had replaced Rick Wakeman for Yes in 1980!!!

  • @pinkfloydrule27 Right on the nail man. You know what you are saying.!

Saw them last year in Holland with an even better performance.

  • John Wetton is not Squire...

  • I remember seeing them in 2006 on this tour and playing this song. It was the only thing I didn't like about the show. I know they did it because it was Steve Howe's most famous song in Yes, but John Wetton has a VERY different voice from Jon Anderson. It just didn't sound right.

  • They took a risk in doing this cover. Best to have stayed with their own material.

  • I'm suprized nobody didn't tell them in rehearsal that the idea to cover this was sucking ass badly, I guess they thought they could get by on thier egos :o(

Well, sometimes ya can't, and here's the proof!

  • I hope this was the first & last time they played it... other than Steve that is

  • UUHHMM !!.....I...DON"T......THINK SO....nice try though! Songs like these are what separates the men from the boys. Not tonight guys...sorry.

  • This is shit...

  • fucking awful. asia blows.

  • john wetton singing roundabout..not necessarily a bad thing!

  • No comment other then Steve .. what were you thinking?

  • OMG Asia didn't look to be in good condidtion... Never liked them much but this is somewhat sad :|

  • What is the point in this?

    Very poor indeed...

  • Ugh, so slow!

  • Dios !!!!! que porqueria de version !!!!!!!!!!!

  • The quality is aboslutely horrible. This video should never have been uploaded. Yes does it way better too... this is probably one the worst covers of this song I'v ever seen a band perform.

  • Razie u are so right - the sound quality is bad enuff, but the cuts make it an utter waste of bandwidth.

  • Unwatchable... why cuts this up in to small segments disjointed and not beat matched?

  • there´s nobody like Chris Squire.

  • Time, the destroyer of all things

  • O "Yes" sem Trevor Rabin, Morreu

  • El tecladista es el de yes vddd the kayboardman is the group yes how is he name?

  • the name is Geofry Downs or somthing like that

  • Thank for the name but he is the yes?

  • well yes and no because he and the producer trevor horn become from a band named THE BUGGLES and they have a hit parade WHO KILL THE RADIO-STAR and they meet YES when anderson and wakeman left yes in pro for their solo projects and trevor horn and geofry downs work for yes en the album DRAMA which is very despreceful for the Yes vintage fans but in my opinion y very good and is very close the same thing with animal from pink floyd which also is despracefull for some fans

  • Geofrey Downess is a good keyboardist but too popy for me

  • segun, yo el integrante de yes que toca en asia es el guitarrista.

  • Saw them this week and the performance was awesome. Palmer haunting and preciese. Howe very fast and musical. Wettons voice sounded very young and even an lttle poetic. Did'nt even miss Wakeman. With the ELP song they did (fnfr fr th cmmn mn) it was the high point of the concert. Maybe this recording is not that good. I saw some of the best musicians of prog rock an dmy daughter was blown away.!

  • pretty terrible cuts

  • I wish Wetton and Bozio stayed together to do some more with UK. This is pretty cool though.

  • Wow. Yes is better! Cant believe that Howe used his time on playing with these guys....

  • wow... what the **** is up with this? Trash!

  • It's a completely different song compared to the typical Yes performances. In particular Carl Palmer's drum pattern makes it all sound a little bit "modern", perhaps?

  • I love YES and ASIA but here "Roundabout" is ugly!

  • I am now glad that I didn't see Asia last year.

  • Why does Carl Palmer completely mess this song up?

  • that actualy made me cry...but not because of that wonderfull song. Its because of this failed interpretation xD

  • WFT?

  • Yeah this is incredibly bad. REALLY slow tempo (though Yes doesn't play it as fast anymore either). Did anyone in the band notice that John can't hit the high notes?

  • its not all that slow. i'd say that its about the same, if not a slight bit slower. most people without much musical training have the tendency to perceive the tempo of a song as faster than it really is, which is why crappy cover bands always play things too fast.

  • Actually I broke out my metronome and it's about 5 bpm slower than the studio version. BTW I'm full-time musician with 35 years experience.

  • yea now that i look at my comment i realize i sound like a dick! sry! :)

  • no thing man. Saw yes on the "without Jon" tour, they actually picked up the tempos a little. Think they try to err on the side of caution, if you listen to older Yes live stuff from the 70s the tempos are sometimes out-of-control fast.

  • Name something you bite? The big one! I can't believe Steve Howe would have participated in this fiasco...

  • not god

  • ew.....too slow and no energy...the drums wtf?

  • Damn Carl Palmer ! You sound like a 15 year old on V drums in Guitar Center

  • lol

  • What are you, some great drummer... NOT !

  • How... gritty sounding.

  • Don't like the way the video was put together. This rendition of the song was sloppy.

  • Weird

  • Asia does a rather sloppy version of this tune.

  • This band is so talented..I wish them well with their NEW ALBUM!!!!!!!!

  • Its good to see even though Asia was a trip for prog legends into the mainstreem light, that they still go back to their great prog roots

  • Asia is the shit!!!!!!!

  • Is that John Wetton?

  • yes

  • @YesMan46 Great succinct reply

  • @YesMan46 no it's carl palmer

  • @papalazerus22 Oh I know who they were I didn't know who the guy was asking about as John Wetton does sing lead and play bass for ASIA!

  • @YesMan46 no asia ?? LOL only joking .... my bad !

  • I just bought the Fantasia: Live in Tokyo album partly to hear the professionally recorded version of this song. I enjoyed it thoroughly, as well as the other songs from the players back catelouges they pulled out.

  • Great, I just saw them again in New Jersey and purchased the same CD at the show.

Afterwards all 4 members signed it for me!

  • Oh man, lucky dog. :)

  • Me and my wife were at the Ct Basie back then! What an awesome show

  • Cut! Cut! Cut!

Why cut it to tiny bits???

    The whole number is destroyed.

  • Sorry YesMan46 I read the explanation AFTER my first post.

You did good with what you had to record it with.

  • Thanks Dude!

  • i can hear any song from YES , singing by another voice that JON ANDERSON.

  • what do you know about Steve Howe, GTR , Yes...I bet nothig!!! you win ok?

    Foxtrot WaSHIGTON usa

  • not a good version , it sounds and looks like a wedding band rehearsing for the first time this song, ¡¡¡unbelievable¡¡ and yet interesting...

  • I agree SuperDave, I was there and believe me there were no boos.

  • fucking shite wont keep yes up at night. And before you disagre your wrong. the bass is way out and the drums. carl palmer aint fuck all on bill.

  • Uhmmm... maybe throw out your video editing software and find another hobby. You cut out some of the coolest parts and the transitions sucked massively.

  • Sorry Mr Pro, the fact is Ishot this with a simple Canon Powershot G5 digital camera that only shoots 30 second clips, the cool parts didn't exist. Too bad if you don't like the transitions.

  • Sorry... assumed you were a hack with bad musical instincts. The G5 is a nice cam. The sound is reasonably good too.

  • Thanks, I appreciate that. I sold the G5 and got an Olympus E500, great digital pics, 8.1 MP, but now I need a video cam, Mac compatible, no more 30 sec. clips!

    Stay tuned...

  • Well that sucked. And whoever said that Howe is singing, you blind??

  • It sure didn't suck seeing this live...

  • Is Howe touring in both bands, i thought he was back w/ yes..

  • Steve Howe is in both bands, Yes is on brake until later this year and a 40th annv. tour is planned for Summer 2008.

  • thanx, i assume you've seen them quite a bit. i saw them at the hard rock hotel in Las Vegas back in 1998

they were great of course, & the venue was perfect size, i had 4th row in front of Steve Howe & i managed to move up to the front and watch his every move.Jon anderson's voice was great, he has all his range so all the tunes sounded like they were in record key. wakeman wasn't with them, they had some other european guy, he was good..

  • que bosta

  • Quite groovy ;)

  • This is probably as close as we'll ever hear to Palmer playing with Yes. Which is one of my musical fantasies.

  • i was at the nokia theater and they totaly fucked the song. they did every other song great tho.

  • It appears that Steve Howe is handling the lead vocals and Wetton backs him on this one.

  • It's weird to hear it without Jon's vocals but John Wetton does an excellent job.

  • Dude, be grateful for what you got, my still digital camera only shoots 30 second clips...

  • You may call it editing; I call it interruptions. There's no need for these cuts.

  • nice!i like this version...
