On the topic of shitty attendance. Tonight in Jersey, 17,625 a sold out arena against LA.

In Colorado, 15,000 against the Rangers with a couple thousands Rangers fans in the building, 3,000 under capacity.

The place is 90% full, you must not visit many NHL arenas because aside from the Canadian teams and Minnesota, rarely do you see every seat filled.

Also, Devils tickets are in the Top 5 in price, while the Avs sit in the middle of the league, in fact they slashed prices this year.

But whatever, the fan of the team drawing 13k a game should be allowed to rip on the team that draws 16k a game. If you want to look at empty seats, watch a game in Denver and stop posting.

Do some research, the Devils are outdrawing the Avs by 2000 fans a game. The Devils average 16,000 fans a game, not bad considering we barely have our own state to ourselves.

Looks like the honeymoon is over in Colorado. The irony is, a light night in Jersey brings in more capital than most NHL rinks do at capacity.

The Devils are 20th in average attendance, drawing an approximate number of 15,318 in a building that holds 17,625... Not that bad at all... Probably would have been a lot higher if it wasn't for two 13,500 turnouts.

The Avalanche on the other hand, are 26th in attendance, drawing 14,390 in a building that holds 18,007.

Way to fail.

i go to alot of devil games, gettin season tickets next year..people dont realize the old meadowlands where they used to play was 99 percent north of every damn town...noone went up there and if u did it was pain in the ass..i have had no problems at the rock..parkin is easy, i dont even pay...i feel safe enough to park it on side of road..people need to get over there assumptions which are purely based on NOTHING

This is a regular season game against the worst team in the West...

13,500 or 14,000 people (with most of them being Devils diehards) is a perfect crowd for a such a low-key hockey game...

Oh, and the PruCenter only holds 17,625 for hockey, 14,000 for a regular season game (when they're not playing the Rangers) is a fairly good attendance draw.

yeah... i agree totally with you. The devils owe their reputation of having little fans show up to the fact that their stadium (CAA) was the northernmost point of NJ and no one would feel it worth to battle the NYC traffic, the crazy and disfunctional roadways and the long commute home (thats for me, I live near Philly). with newark, you have the arena and much more convenient parking and setup with the NJ transit and the highway parallel to the Rock. the Devils, i feel, can only get better

It's not even the "inner-city," it's a clean and safe downtown environment with the regular hustle and bustle of city life all around...

Also, the PruCenter is helping with even more redevelopment projects to make downtown Newark New Jersey's own version of Midtown Manhattan... :)

FACT: There has been more crime at the Meadowland Sports Complex the last two years than around the 2 sq mile area of the Prudential Center. In fact there has been not one violent crime in that area since it opened.

FACT: Downtown Newark is experiencing a Renaissance, features some of the best restaurant /bars in New Jersey, as well as the newest, and nicest hockey arena in the world. Its a business and college area, very nice and very safe.

How about this? Motorsports is for toothless hicks.

ImDancinCosby's fact is actually 100 percent true... And Downtown Newark, in all honesty, isn't that bad, and neither is the cloest residential neightborhood, the Ironbound.

The North Ward of Newark is where most of the crime is, and that is NO WHERE NEAR the Rock...

I have been to four games there... The streets are clean, the police are friendly, and there has been no shady activity whatsoever...

Oh, and if you wonder why they moved to Newark... The Continental Airlines Arena (now the Izod Center) was a horrible place to watch or play hockey. From a player's perspective, the ice was of horrible quality and dressing rooms outdated and cramped...

And from a fan's perspective: The seats were too far away, it was too open, an unintimate place to watch hockey, rude gameday staff, one tight and narrow concourse, and outdated amenities.

Also, it didn't help that the CAA was in the middle of nowhere, with the only way of getting there being by automobile.

The Rock, on the other hand, is the perfect place to sit down and simply enjoy a hockey game.

Also, it made sense to put their new arena in Newark, as Newark is the largest city in NJ...

Exactly, I pay $22 and get to sit in the Upper Corners, the most rowdy sections in the entire arena... And yes, there is a great view. :)

Yeah, man, the Upper seats are extremely worth it...

The energy from the fans up there is insane as well... Just listen to Section 209 during the next game you go to, and try not to laugh or smile at the witty chants or obnoxious comments directed towards the opposing team. :)
