When I watched this episode, I was all excited to hear that Kool Moe Dee was gonna be on it, as I'm a fan of his from way back. But I have to say, to me, Young MC sounded best in this one. Very, very smooth!
"Buckner lost the ball, and he lost the game, and he learned the high cost of the price of fame..." not quite as good or potent as Rakim on one level (you can't even compare the two, quite frankly), but it is quite a good demonstration of how he's managed to become a much better lyricist over the years. Especially when you check his last two albums, "Ain't Goin' Down Like That," and "Engage the Enzyme." Absolutely sick stuff. Five stars, and thanks for uploading this! :)
I say this because I have ALWAYS felt that Kris and Mo were LEAGUES ahead of Marvin. Although he did a little bragging (not as bad as KRS, but, still, for what it's worth...), he had some poetic value within what he was saying.
Doesn't make a single reference to himself... and he is well known for the classic songs he did about how much of a great rapper he is (not as arrogant or conceited as his infamous rival LL Cool J, but he's been known to get on rolls about his rhyming prowess). Strangely, although Young MC was always known as a pop chart king before anything else, I actually liked his lines the best.
Oh, yeah... almost forgot that he founded the Temple of Hiphop. Why that one slipped my mind, I'll probably never know. Anyways, Kool Moe Dee's one also ruled, and the one thing quite easily noticeable (although you might still need to go back once or twice before you really realize this) is that he just gives you straight-up information.
Then again, he has done so much as a hip hop artist/rapper (The Stop the Violence Movement, H.E.A.L... research the books, people) that he's pretty much entitled to do so, IMHO. Kind of like how people still respect Melle Mel, even after all of the things he said about Rakim, Tupac Shakur and KRS.
My god, did I have one hell of a glitch with this thing. When I went online yesterday to watch this, YT accidentally favorited it, for some reason. Oh, well... it doesn't matter. Definitely one of my ten favorite segments from the Best Damn Sports Show Period. I honestly cannot say which verse I loved the best... KRS-One's was quite on point factually, although he did a lot of classic selfish emcee braggadocio.
Wasn't sure what to expect, but KRS and Young laid it down. Thought Young actually had the best rap. Even better than a lot of stuff on his Stone Cold album.
Whole Thing Was Fire Kris Kill'd It So Did Moe Dee, WHY????was Baby MC even in there with KRS & Moe???Shoulda Been Rakim or Chuk D Shit Even Kane.......1
