He seemed to spend way too much time charging up the car. If one charge lasted 1 -3 days, depending on milage, then it would be a great idea. This just looks like its a long way from being a practical alternative to gasoline.
@chrisbradley09 It's just a new way of thinking. What if you had to drive to a gas station once a week to refuel your cell phone instead of just plugging it in every time you were near an outlet. It's no less convenient. It takes an extra 3-4 seconds every time he gets in or out of the car.
Forget the stupid kids, I know tons of dogs that chew on cords. Requiring a card for battery changes... that's actually a good idea IF you needed it to start the car as well like an ignition key.
Ok, so what if some stupid kid in the street unplugs or cuts the cord for fun?? your stranded there...
what if you loose that BP card? your stranded unable to change your battery...
I think these both require a lot of thought, you should implemente wireless charging, and password based identity when rechanging the battery. Nothing good comes out of having a cord to recharge, i wouldnt be carefree with that, no way.
@alfonrock What if I forget my credit card for my gasoline powered car? I will be stuck and unable to get home. What if some kid siphons the gasoline out of my car just for kicks? This whole gasoline powered thing is a bad idea and will never work.
@JohnCBriggs Ha ha! Nicely put. Detractors always come up with ludicrous scenarios to make things seem unreasonable, while conveniently forgetting that it applies to their own way of thinking too... too funny. :-)
@7eardstapa7 Yep, change is hard for all of us. I have my concerns about the Better Place model too (mostly financial), but I think technically it seems like a great idea. Seems like the only practical way to make zero tailpipe emission taxi cabs. Anyway, nice to see a different approach to the problem.
