  • video is very good. wish forgotten cats operated in NJ.

  • @orangecat759

Not sure what comment you read from me but I am for TNR and always tell people that neutered cats protect their territory... Never allow newbies to come in. I am WITH this organization.

  • 0.37,

    051,are those the same cat?

  • Very educational.

  • I bait and shoot feral cats!!!!!!!!!! Not because I hate cats, but because I love animals. It is sad that these animals suffer the way they do,but they are DETRIMENTAL to the indigenous wildlife around them and simply must be dealt with. Neuter and release is bullshit!! A neutered cat is still going to hunt native wildlife. Sad,but they must be eradicated, not castrated!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @njmudpuppy you need to be eradicated

  • @orangecat759 Why dont you eradicate my sperm by swallowing it???

  • @njmudpuppy why do people who hate feral cats watch feral cat videos? i don't watch videos intended for bird people or videos for knuckle dragging slope headed gun nuts.

doubt you can produce any sperm to eradicate. takes a big man to shoot an unsuspecting stray or feral cat.

  • @orangecat759 Check you ignorance honey..... It takes a loving and caring man to understand that feral cats have NO right to exist at the the expense of the lives of indigenous wildlife...It is truly sad the pathetic existence these animals have, and I have NEVER taken any pleasure in taking ANY animals life..... They dont belong!!!! and their presence in most any natural ecosystem is detrimental to both prey and predatory animals alike.... The RIGHT thing to do isn't always the NICE thing!!!

  • @njmudpuppy "feral cats have no right to exist?" you are the judge? and you kill? yeah..."check you ignorance honey." and check you stereotyping- i am not some bleeding heart little girl. i probably own more guns than you do. radical environmentalists claim that "you" have no "right to exist at the expense of indigenous wildlife." should they start shooting? excuse me while i tend to my beautiful 1 yr old black and white feral cat- who just moved indoors.

  • @orangecat759 Dont take my words out of context sweetheart........"...........no right to exist at the expense of the lives of INDIGENOUS NATIVE FUCKING WILDLIFE!!!!!! " .............. YES, I AM the judge! After eradicating a large colony of feral cats I WATCHED, as in; I observed with my own fucking eyes, the populations of squirrels, rabbits, ground nesting birds, and garter snakes rebound to normal levels. Bait and shoot is FAR more effective than trap neuter and release.....

  • @njmudpuppy okay big man. i would rather watch the video and listen to the music associated with this site, but-#1eradicate a "colony of feral cats" in my neighborhood, the neighbors would be up your ass#2ILLEGAL to kill cats in nj#3 80% of the population does not approve of killing cats-even to save "FUCKING" wildlife#4Momma-a former feral-was quite the hunter. her known kills included a groundhog and a turkey.good thing Momma is indoors.that probably did more good for wildlife thanyoueverdid.

  • Comment removed

  • @njmudpuppy WHAT! You are going to come into my house to shoot Momma??? You hate all cats, even indoor domesticated cats? Momma hasn't killed anything in months-other than the occasional fragile object on the kitchen table!!!The "FUCKING" wildlife is out of danger- that isn't good enough for you?Meanwhile, the threat to kill cat is making me crap my pants!Gotta check to see if I have enough ammunition! KILLING CATS IN NJ IS ILLEGAL!!!Meanwhile Bushy Tail, the hated big feral male has beenhunting

  • @orangecat759 NOOOOOOOOOOOO I have a cat myself..... I have had 2 cats, both of them were adopted stray kittens. My first cat lived to be 18. BOTH my cats were allowed outside only under my supervision and were trained to return indoors ON COMMAND!... It takes a lot of LOVE and effort to train a cat....... I mis-read what you wrote..... Momma is safe from me......

  • @njmudpuppy Momma thanks you! My two oldest cats (13 yrs ago they were feral kittens) enjoy daily supervised walks outdoors. They usually respond to commands- in part they are supervised because I do not want them going after birds(also I don't want to lose them!)As for Momma- I don't know how she got her hunting prowess- I believe she was one of three kittens "dumped" spring 2009(the other two were captured and homed immediately.)HUMANS are the cause of the feral cat problem.

  • trap and release where they came from definetly works.ive caught over 40 cats here in san jose ca.I feed and put water out everyday for these cats.i do it on my bicycle,so i ride about 15 miles a day.

  • The government must destroy the roots of this problem, Animal breeding mills.

  • Does anybody besides me see that neutering male feral cats and putting them back in the wild(TNR) will make him less of a fighter in a world in which he needs to be able to fight for food and survival? The reduction of testosterone will result in less muscle and fighting spirit! A housecat with a dedicated owner doesn't need that muscle or fighting spirit but a cat living on the streets does!

  • @domesticfagkiller feral cats also spread vermin like fleas and ticks and sickness. Feral cat colonies are not a good thing, its a very sad situation.

  • sorry,i repeated the same comment 3 times,i am new on you tube, just learning how it works.i apologize

  • They looked pretty well-fed and clean to me! Lol.

Cats can take care of themselves unless there's somthing wrong with them. It's called "natural selection" - meaning, if you are too dumb to find food then you will die and leave the resources to those who are strong and listen to instinct more.

  • domestic cats have been bread to be pets for people. they are not suited to live on their own outside anymore, and usually end up living very short, hungry, and unhealthy lives. cats are human's responsibility, and if all of these cats cannot be found homes, the least we can do is stop them from making more kittens to be born into such a miserable situation

  • good just kill the little rodent fuck kittens and cats dont deserve life little rodents like cockroaches just squash the worthless pests

  • What do they use to sterilize them? I put stuff in boiling water to sterilize it.

  • sterilizeing them is (spaying/neutering them)

  • I adopted a tnr cat last year - it's such a good program.

  • Where I live we have no animal shelter so people just leave there cats at the dump. I have 2 dump cats and they are so different then other cats they have fangs that go down to there chin long, tails, and they are more aggressive but are also really loving when they want to be.. amazing hunters.

  • Feral Cats are a product of our throw away society, so we have to take care of them. We don't have a choice. It is the right thing to do. Ignore the player haters who say otherwise. They have no better solution to offer up.

  • All 4 of mine were ferel. They are the best pets, cause they remember what is was like to me homeless. We now have 6 in the neighborhod (were all trying to catch) and we will give them great homes. Afer all I've been called The Crazy Cat Lady.

  • fantastic video. very sad growing problem that too many people ignor

  • However there are the instances of people who actually abandon a cat, and in this case it's not really a cat problem but a people problem because the cat wasn't sterilized before abandonment and the cat was abandoned in the first place. But most ferals were born feral and thus will live wild and act wild and will always be wild. And thus should be treated no differently than any other urban garbage raiding animal such as foxes and raccoons. Neutering adults has it's own health issues.

  • Aww what? LOL TNR is the ONLY humane way of helping feral cats. They should not be allowed to breed more cats then there all ready is. Neutered cats are happier and healthier. No more fighting, giving birth and watching their kits being eaten by hawks, plus no more spraying and yowling near annoyed neighbors. I do TNR is works. Period.

  • Surely you don't believe that remove entire organs that produce necessary hormones for growth and development has no bad side effects? Also hysterectomy and vasectomy in feral cats ensures that no new ferals move in the area, as the problems happens with neutering since the cats don't defend their territory anymore. I live near many feral colonies that are happy and healthy breeding and living out the lives of their wild ancestors. Why don't you TNR a bobcat to make sure it lives "happier".

  • Good God man are you blind? Bobcats are NATIVE to the US Domestic cats are not. Wild or not it's domestic animal overpopulation. Yes neutered cats are happy and healthier. NO side effects but less chance of cancer! I don't want more feral cats coming into the world.

  • Whats wrong with more feral cats coming into the world as long as they have an ecological niche and happy and healthy were they are? I cannot believe neutering has no side effects, it's mainly propaganda that it does not. The negative side effects of neutering have already been recorded well in dogs such as thyroid, bone, growth and cognitive problems. And overpopulation in time can take care of itself, in some areas of the US, feral cats already have coyotes and pumas as natural predators.

  • Rabbits breed over and over because most do not live past 9 months being a prey species. predator animals are not suppose to breed that much. cat overpopulation will not take care of itself! I am in rescue and know this first hand. You live in a fantasy world my friend. It's people like you with fake reasoning about spaying and neutering is why there are too many cats out there.

  • BTW there are always risks with operations but the benefts outweigh the risks.

  • Funny how you ignore the part on S/N being ineffective because it only brings in more feral cats into the area because neutered cats do not defend their territory. Oh and yeah like following the S/N mantra is "reasoning" when you consider the role of sex hormones and that less physiology altering alternatives exist. But really are there REALLY "too many cats" out there? Considering that feral kittens have 90% mortality rate and all the hazards they face. The "problem" isnt in the feral cats

  • S/N IS does work. Come to my area. Neutered cats do not let any new cats in the area. Unneutered cats WANT more cats to come so they can breed. You must read those warrior books/ these cats should not be allowed to breed. The problem is ignorant people who hippie-tize everything thinking live and let live. Go to a shelter and see the hundreds of feral cats being put down.. oh that's natural? Pleeze.

  • I don't read those books, and I got the info from a scientific journal, thank you. Wild feral cats are very territorial animals and will even fight viciously to defend their territory. I've even seen them fight myself. And it's pretty much stupid to put ferals in shelters in the first place because they are often already past the stage they can be socialized for being a companion animal. Besides you might as well put starving wild animals in shelters. I can understand abandoned pets though.

  • I mean I can understand putting unwanted PETS in shelters. But feral cats are not pets unless you take them in as kittens or they "adopt" your home.

  • @sweetvegan74 why nobody actually realize is wrong to put down healthy animals?in italy its illegal.leave ferral cats alone.dont bring them in shelter, they dont need to be rescued (killing them in shelters is not actually rescuing them).countries without ferral cats are full of mice and rats, guess why?

  • @salvolondon

I don't believe in killing them but neutering and giving them shelter and daily food keeps them happier and also the human community. I have feral cats in my neighborhood. All are now neutered and quite happy.

  • @sweetvegan74 yeah,i agree with you.the ginger stray tom cat in my neighborwood is not neutered,he is about ten,he is healthy and doesnt have any big scar because of fighting.he is even overweight for all the food he got from people.

  • @salvolondon

He should still be neutered so no more kittens are born though

  • @sweetvegan74

I agree with you except for that whole "hippie-tize" comment. Most hippy-types are smart enough to get their cats fixed. Rednecks on the other hand ... they never fix their cats and just dump them off when they get to be inconvenient. Dump them off at my mother's actually. We're trying to get them fixed, but since it's a rural area, it's a challenge since there's no outside organizations to help.

  • @sweetvegan74 neutered cats DO NOT let new cats come into their area! they protect their food source.when my neighbors and I maintained a family group of six feral spayed or neutered cats, we had very few new feral cats. the largest male would reliably run them off. that family of cats is gone- now it seems we have a new feral or two every week. (some of the new ferals are spayed and neutered- but we can't keep up with all of them.

  • And really if an area cannot sustain a large population of a certain animal, then it's only logical that population will conform to the capacity of the area through predation, starvation, etc. Sure that sounds cruel, but hey it's the life of a wild animal, surely you're not going to S/N and "rescue" every wild horse and feral pig. To be honest I think the Bird lover group has a tad more reasoning than the TNR group since they see cats more like...cats, rather than poor orphaned children.

  • BTW. I see feral cats as animals that need help which people started in the first place. No I can't fix every cat in the world. BUT I will neuter every feral that is in my area. My dogs and I locate them easily and before they know it. Their healthy, fed and are living past 10 years od age. Sorry your dead wrong. I'm done growling. Whatever you say your telling only yourself as I want to focus on other things then commenting to a useless brick wall..

  • Thanks for your immaturity. BTW "helping" a predator in an ecosystem is unfair to other predators and their prey animals as it give them an unnatural "advantage", pro- cat eradication bird lovers understand this, but I disagree with their crusade to shoot cats. Though to be honest I wouldn't mind people shooting cats but they could easily kill pet cats in the process and do it with malicious intent to make feral cats extinct.

  • @sweetvegan74 you neuter feral cats then return them to the wild? That's cruel! When you neuter a male it makes it so he can't produce testosterone which in turn then makes him less muscular. So you are basically putting him at a disadvantage making it so he will lose his fights with other feral cats who happen to be intact. Think about it!

  • actually im pretty sure most the people you ask WOULD -if they could- take in any poor forgotten neglected abused animal- thing for that matter- and love it and protect it with thier LIFE.

  • I was talking about cats that have grown up in the wild, not ones that have been abandoned or orphaned.

  • agreed, it screws with the balance of predator and prey ratio.

  • Thank you! Somone with a brain! (-:

I was tired of trying to explain humane feral cat control to AlienDragon. Just can't get through his head that it's a people problem that needs aiding and not to let nature run it's course. People have done this for years and look what resulted: millions of feral cats. TNR just started in the US in the 90's and Thank God people are realizing to begin the program in their areas.

  • @summerbrezz74 the are a predator but not a top one which means other things eat them so the breed quick too they would have so many babies if they werent being hunted themselfs

  • Feral cats are NOT unwanted cats, nor homeless cats. They have a home, it's called "the wild". Let nature take care of itself, it's a myth that feral cats severely hurt wildlife, and the problem is that people project their own image of their pet cat onto these wild cats, so they go through the trouble of futily trying to "save" them, when really, it's dumb because you might as well try to TNR possums and raccoons as well. 90% of kittens die in their first year, boo hoo it's called nature.

  • Cats are not native to the wild unlike possums. So their numbers need to go down. Possumns and raccoons don't have litters three times a year for the rest of their lives. It's too stressful to let an animal breed that much plus unfair to the kittens.

  • I'm sure there are wild animals that have even more litters than that. And cats are actually more wild than you think, if they can thrive in the wild, then they can be wild. In addition to that, in some areas they have already become part of the local ecosystem along with other introduced, urban species such as pidgeons and rats.

  • No native species only have 1 litter a year. Domestic animals have 2-3 litters. How would you like to have 5 babies three times a year and later get Pymetra from infections. I just trapped an older female feral. She had aborted a litter right before I caught her. Her body just could not handle the pressure. She is spayed, put on a normal weight and gets fed every day. She is way happier then getting attacked by tom cats every few months.

  • Rabbits produce even more litters than that in the wild. You have to remember that nature is a bitch, nature is not happy deer and bunnies playing in the woods, it's animals getting eaten, slaughtered, and full of parasites and fighting for territories.

  • Something I find oddly funny. There was a time when I didn't believe in evolution, and whenever I debated people on the subject I would always bring up "invasive species" and they would tell me that it is futile to save native species since evolution favored the "non-native species". And now I believe in evolution, yet it seems people's hearts cannot digest the reality of nature and evolution even if they believe it.

  • Good vid!

I and my girlfrend wanna help the feral cats in her community. We live in china and we dont have those trapping cages shown in the vid. We 've used a pet carrying bag trapped 4 cats but it didn't work well. Any suggestions? And when we took the cats to the vet we had to take them out and hold them so the vet can give them shots to put them to sleep. My girlfriend got bitten twice during the process. Is there a way we can put them to sleep first then take them out for the surgery?

  • Noddy- you are very ignorant.

There is proof that cats are not the reason for the problem with the decline in endangered species. This is a very misunderstood subject. And you are more of a pest to this world then the beautiful cats you insult.

  • So True! Neutering is the key to controlling the population. Unless you plan on adopting the feral cat, you have to return them to their orignal home or they will be lost and alone in a new area. Unless the orig. area was horribly unsafe like the side of a highway. It really is the only answer.

  • why the hell do you let them go??? you r saying goodbye to native species of birds, mammals, reptiles. put that money into helping save endangered native animals not an introduced fucking pest. shame on you.

  • I volunteer for Forgotten Cats and they do so much work. Without rescues like them, the cat population would be out of control. If you trap and remove them, move cats just replace the cats killed. It's pointless and costs tax payers money. TNR is humane and helps stop the seed from spreading.

  • That is pure faleshood. If you put out food they will come in like vultures. In my own area they have literally wiped out cottontail rabbits, bobwhite quail, box turtles, Cimean Tree Frog. The only thing that cleared them out in this area was getting my property fenced in and getting a large dog that killed cats crossing my property. If you wish to care for these feral animals keep them in your home. I sued my neighbor for having like 30 cats that destroyed my property.

  • Are you aware that taking in a feral cat in your home is like taking in a wild possum? Although domestic, ferals still have the mentality of wild animals. The vaccum effect will always happen with cats being removed because cats are with people. And people don't spay and neuter. Spayed ferals decline within time. My colony is now down to 6. TNR and Trap & Remove both are not flawless BUT native animals are better off with limited spayed cats that are fed then countless starving breeding ones

  • Of course I'm aware of that and if the TNR people concentrated on domesticating them they could have homes instead of destroying everything within their vicinity. Think ferals can't be domesticated? I have a cat now that I captured from adulthood from this woman and I domesticated it. It takes about a month and lots of bites (thank goodness for gloves) but it can be done. He has been fixed and walks on a leash now. I have done this 5 times.

  • There are also many ferals that want nothing to do with people. The 5 times you tamed those cats.. in those times you could of caught and neutered a whole alot more cats and stop the breeding. You got the cat from a woman what about an 11 year old tom that lived in the woods his entire life? I have been doing rescue for over 15 years and also tamed some ferals that could not be returned. But there are not always homes ready for them.

  • So until people wake up and keep their cats for life, and rescues and animal shelters go out of business.. I'm doing TNR.

  • I do not have the financial ability to pay 55.00 for every male and 105.00 for every female. That is the price of the low cost clinics in this area. Perhaps someone would send me donations. There were very few ferals until the neighbor started feeding them. The area now has become a dumping ground for even more. I called the police when I saw a lady stop and let 5 cats out of her vehicle.

  • Neither do I! I am up to 17 cats myself. (are neutered of course)Plus the 6 ferals I feed. You might consider traveling to find a cheaper clinic. I found one for 25 dollars a feral (male or female includes shots and flea drops) You could ask people for donations too. Every cent helps.. You can't clear the problem no one person can. BUT you can make the situation better. Every feral cat fixed, every stray fostered stops the seeds from spreading even more so. Thank you for caring!

  • We had the lady evicted after her ferals attacked a child and gave it Cat Scratch Fever. That is my opinion if you cannot tame your cats they should be euthanized. Her landlord was on the scene and told me that he would have to condemn his property from the amount of urine and feces under the house and in the floor.

Her house was a TNR house and as she fed more cats came or were dropped off.

  • This woman sounds like a hoarder and it sounds like she is not able to mantain the colony. I found a colony like this and I am helping the woman TNR it, We have about 6 cats to go.

Feral cats are not aggresive to people, only if threaten. Kids don't know better. I trapped a feral cat that had a live kitten during her spay! She and baby are in foster care and are crated. Although feral, she is not aggressive and takes care of her baby.

  • I've never witnessed a cat protecting territory except a tom fighting another tom while a female was in heat. Females accept any cat. The Toms themselves are quite migratory.

  • Then you never saw a completely managed colony. Your welcome to stop by my neighborhood and see it for yourself then.

  • Fantastic video and comments. Humans are so means sometimes.

    Stop euthanasia!

  • youre so right, keep spreding this, thanks from someo9ne from holland ,an

  • good video! looking forwarding people's responsibility!

  • true they are responseble, but not wanting to burn their own hands, shame them, lets wake up all the ??????????what are they?but one thing is ,we have to get rit of those people, they are too much, not the cats!!!!

  • No feral cats.....just feral humans!!

    Good Video...They are beautiful spirits!

  • Very powerful video....and so sad and tragic for these poor kitties. I have done some volunteer work for The Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon. It's very rewarding to know that I've done something good to help lonely and scared kitties, but also very heartbreaking, because some are so sick, injured or diseased from living in the wild, that they have to be euthanised. TNR is a good way to help them, but I hope to see the unwanted cat population disappear naturally in my lifetime.

  • I take my feral cats to the Forgotten Cat's clinic in Willow Grove PA to be fixed and vaccinated. It is great and everyone is nice there. Nice Video to spread the word!
