Being partially sighted, GUI size is everything! Synthedit instruments are too small; Reason 5 GUI is too small - i have to use windows magnifier which only gives you a strip to view; but if this synth's GUI were piped through a projector onto a 60 inch screen size, that would be getting me somewhere! Sold to the man with thick glasses!
I have just gotten into Roxy Music and Eno. I have no musical knowledge (a few guitar chords is all I got) but love the sounds of analogue synths. Would anyone recomend buying this? or is there anything else more suitable for a learner? is it standalone or a plugin that requires Cubase or similar? Thanks guys :)
would you say this takes up alot of CPU when in use? I have a 17-inch MacBook Pro (possibly the same as yours) so it shouldn't be much of a problem anyway but I'm just curios. Thanks alot and great review.
Great Review thanks again, and for anyone who missed that...The books by Peter Forrest "A-Z of Analogue Synthesisers", yes with an "s", is out of print and hard to find outside of auction...part two n-z seems easier to find...
he gives such brilliant reviews :D. covers everything that needs to be covered in depth, yet still manages to cut out everything unnecessary. something that american video reviewers always seem to have trouble with :/.
Hi guys, I was wondering if you could recommend some decent desktop PC speakers? I'm looking for decent quality sound, you might call it 'audiophile'. I don't really want monitors, cause I've heard they can be fatiguing and unenjoyable to listen to when I'm not using them for making music. Budget is about £200.
I was looking at the Audioengine A2 or possibly A5. Is this a good choice, or would you recommend another desktop speaker?
Peter forrest's books are, shall we say, very creative with their use of factual information in a number of places, but an enjoyable read nonetheless.
That said, this soft kobol DOES sound pretty cool, although it sounds more like an ob XPANDER from the presets, which is one of THE best synths ever made.
Hmm. It does sound pretty good. The filter doesn't sound as nice as the one from Minimonsta, but it's probably Youtube's fault. But those half-waveforms were a nice touch.

CPU intensive but worth it. The only softsynth I've used that caused me to sell some of my analog gear.

@vunderground1
It's plugin only ... so yes, you need a host like Cubase to run it on.

@Kaburorne
get a pair of Fostex PM0.4 monitors, about the £170 mark, great all round self powered speakers for monitoring and for general music and pc audio,
big enough but not too big, fairly heavy for their size, I love mine
