To mate this head to an older block, all oil drain ports from the head to crankcase must be plugged and the block decked. Then external lines installed from the head to the crankcase.

    5. The point of this was to find out why the oil pressure dropped as the manifold pressure was rising. Yes the vacuum was dropping and the absolute manifold pressure is rising(same thing) Boost pressure did not decrease oil pressure anymore, even at 18psi.

The problem was a weak oil pump!

  • To answer some of your questions.

    1. Yes the car is turbo charged, to 18 psi! It is a larger turbo, takes longer too spool up and there was no reason to let it spool up because the issue occurs before boost is generated.

    2. The gauge is mechanical, not electrical, and is taken off the main oil galley.

    3. You don't hear any accel, because of camera position and no boost.

    4. The engine is a 90 2.5L dodge engine with a 2004 16 valve head from a SRT-4.

  • I don't know where the oil pressure sensor is located in your case, but some possible reasons:

    - Boost increases pressure inside block by blowby, and it affects to measurement of oilpressure.

    - Engine electrics have weak point somewhere, and when current is going up, voltage drops and affects to reading on the meter.

  • 0 psi boost??? why even bother with a boost gauge?

  • @oistein74

Even though it was a waste of $ getting all those gauges, the biggest is that it's a vacuum/boost gauge. It is reading vacuum.

  • @Q1KLT1 yea, but a vacuum / boost gauge is normally installed into a turbo engine, not NA.

  • @oistein74

Making it THAT much more RICE, and a waste of money.

The best part for me is when the vacuum goes to zero, it means he has the throttle wide open... but I don't hear any accelerating going on.

  • @Q1KLT1 yea.. not sure I see the point of his setup....
