I was enlisted for ~22 yrs and I do love this country. I've served numerous deployments and for what...? I don't seem to remember Iraq firing a shot at us before we smoked them into the very pit of hell. I don't trust the criminals running our counrty anymore that's all. I think you may be somewhat naive about the military. Most are noble people who join for the right reasons and are honorable. They obey orders under service like the police force of your town. Haliburton contracts are Cost +, which means they get paid more for spending more. This creates huge waste. Taxpayers pick up the tab. Cheney is the ultimate culprit. He makes sure only Haliburton get the contracts. He owns more than $30m in H stock options. He also has a mansion in Dubai (valued at $12.5m) waiting for him when he leaves office next year. Blackwater will provide him 24/7 security. His crimes are so treacherous, blatant and transparent... it's utterly sickening.

Basically whats going on is some want us out, some support us, terrorists are fighting us, and we are holding back a civil war. Until we can breakup the fighting between the two groups and establish a strong Iraqi military we are going to be in Iraq.

I was enlisted for ~22 yrs and I do love this country. I've served numerous deployments and for what...? I don't seem to remember Iraq firing a shot at us before we smoked them into the very pit of hell. I don't trust the criminals running our counrty anymore that's all. I wish more civilians had been raising hell so that my brothers and I didn't have to lose part of out lives/souls in that part of the world :(

2. It does compare, saying you are losing money doesn't mean you aren't benefiting from the income massively. My own last company lost money many years and I still took home 6 figures.

We haven't established anything. My point is saying your are losing money is very different from ACTUALLY losing money. They can burn all the oil fields they want, that doesn't affect anyones profits. I ran a company that was posting losses while I was taking home 6 figures.

The oil fields don't make them their money. Us buying their gas does. If they had paid a lot of money for the RIGHTS to use those wells and then they don't produce, THEN they would be losing money. You seem to think that prices stay fixed regardless of demand. Please go study economics before continuing this debate.

With a "Cost plus" contract for Halliburton's efforts in Iraq, it is a win win situation...the more they spend in Iraq,the bigger the profit. I doubt there existed another like. The biggest trouble with calling this guy a war profiteer is there has not been any Congressional oversight of their activities in Iraq. GAO has caught them chiseling, lying and cheating, but so far Congress has turned a blind eye. Instead of just ASS-uming they must be OK because Cheney used to be CEO, why shouldn't there be some genuine oversight? We had it in WWII, Korea and Vietnam, and we had it in Kosovo and through the rest of the mess in Yugoslavia. Why not now?

There's always oversight. Otherwise you wouldn't say they were "caught."
But some people hate companies, so they throw accusations all over the place. Some other people hate companies, so they believe the accusations.
As for myself, I don't assume that Halliburton is evil and is cheating and stealing. I wait. Others simply assume that the accused is guilty.

Overlooking crimes does not equal oversight, and certainly does not equal CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT. Over $10 BILLION is missing, Halliburton has received BILLIONS more, and the infrastructure in Iraq is worse off than when Dubya declared "mission accomplished." You are either a liar or a fool. Or both.

I've heard the accusations that Halliburton has hidden money, or stolen money. I just didn't automatically believe it.

As I don't believe that. There are many contractors and companies and soldiers rebuilding infrastructure in Iraq. Are you telling me that in three years, their work is being destroyed faster than they're building it?

It's not that the corporation stole money, and the effect is that you hate the corporation.
It's that you hate the corporation, and the effect is you believe that the company stole money.
Otherwise, you wouldn't assert that they ripped taxpayers for billions, when that has not been proven.

Is there an instance where Halliburton was legally charged with fraud, or convicted of fraud?

Halliburton is evil. Why? Because they've been stealing. How do I know this? Because they've been accused of stealing. But how do I know that's true? Well, the accusations have to be true because Halliburton is evil. I know that because they steal. I know that they steal because they block investigations. I know they block oversight because they're evil.

I know. People that throw accusations like this keep talking, but without any proof or evidence. Just accusation after accusation. "Cheney is blocking the investigation." Oh. Sure. Right. And the Illuminati have collabarated with aliens to get Halliburton more no-bid contracts. Proof? Why would I need proof?

Well, I wouldn't call that "fraud." It may be immoral. It may be illegal (though news stories seem to agree that it's "barely legal.")
But if you want to just start talking about shady practices of businesses, then we'll end up talking about every business on the planet. Halliburton seems to have a pretty good track record for a company of its magnitude.

Again, I've read about allegations of overcharging, underdelivering, and so on. Allegations do not equal proof. You apparently believe Halliburton has underdelivered and undercharged. But all you offer are allegations.

If you still believe the reason for the war was based on lies, then you are simply uninformed, and chose to be so. 26 million Iraqis are trying to choose a better life, but people with a murderous ideology are killing them. I agree, Bush and Cheney need to be impeached. If Clinton can be impeached for lying about getting a blow job then Bush can be ipeach for lying about weapons in Iraq and the deaths of thousands of people behind that lie. All Clinton's lie killed were some sperm.
