the reason why Nathan hates the term "Nintendo-core" is because his lyrics dont have shit to do with video games, and he feels like it's discrediting his part in the band. I dont blame him. But at the same time, he must understand, nintendo games are used to produce the sounds in a great deal of their songs. I'm assuming Erik writes the music, so if Nathan doesn't like it being referred to that, then he can either leave the band or get them to stop using sounds from it.
