What is disturbing is that so many Canadians have bought into the Bush/Cheney view that torture works which it doesn't or that torturing POWs is a way for Canadians to get revenge-there is also little concern about whether these individuals are innocent or not. The other issue is that according to international law Canada's forces are culpable if they turn prisoners over to another nation's military knowing that there is a high probability prisoners will be tortured. GORD.

Whiners. What should be focused on is NOT the simple fact that a few alleged terrorists got tortured but whether or not all those who were tortured were actual terrorists. If some innocent folks got tortured, that's a problem. But if it was just bastard al Qaeda thugs, I really don't give a shit! The Constitution doesn't protect these people. You really think when it said "persons" it meant ANYONE on us soil? No, it meant us citizens. The Founders meant "persons" as a truism.
You have to put things in perspective. Just saying "They tortured" is not enough. If they 'tortured' people who are inhumane and probably deserve some punishment, why should I care? It's hardly equivalent to what al Qaeda does to captured folks in Iraq. At least we don't chop off their limbs. Or rape their women on a normal basis like Saddam with his rape rooms.
aha so thats our standart now hmm "we dont torture as bad"..you make me sick, you stand against everything i believe in and i am ashamed that you consider yourself a person with decency, because it ruins the meaning.
torture was, is , and always will be a crime against humanity. and everyone who thinks we should torture is as bad as "the bad guys" btw, look up "rape us military" you will lose your opinion faster than you can say "i rape human rights"

Take these issues in context. Being an absolutist is absurd. You left-wingers should know better.
