  • Thank You for this tutorial for beginners like myself who have no clue on how to use

    Gimp 2. :) :)

  • Thanks Man... Really helpful vid... Thanks now I wanna watch The other ones :)

  • great video

  • omg this helped me exponentially!

  • The video you refer to, vector land, is gone :( the user deleted their profile.

  • wow sooo confusing i have to do this as a project in school. i need to geta better grade i got an e!!!

  • Very clear, helpful, and straightforward tutorial. Make more please! Haha

  • @MrBamfmofo

This video was uploaded in 2008...

  • this helped a bunch thank you :)

  • Thanks for this nice little vid. As a decades-busy professional artist who can draw like lighting in the traditional way, I'm not happy with drawing like this, but Needs Must. Your tutorial is very clear for GIMP, a program I always recommend to so many artists.

  • the video isnt on youtube anymore :(

  • Thanks for showing how to close a path, how to delete unwanted path points, and how to curve paths. I'm finally starting to understand paths better.

  • Just what i need. Tank you.

  • Until this video I was always stumped how to close a path!

  • Bloody Crucial!!!

  • OMG finally a legit tutorial.

  • Excellent fast tutorial. Just what I needed. Very well done.

  • This video, as simple as it, helps so much more than support documentation. Like programming and using computers in general you can learn so much more from watching and imitating more proficient users.

  • Dude! i'm like low to intermediate, cause I teach myself how to do stuff (most of the time trying not to annoy people with questions I can answer myself.) But you showed me right off the bat stuff that had foiled me! Thanks bro

(for instance, how to close the path!!!! I couldn't find that on the Gimp help page!)

  • Thank you so much for this! I found it really helpful and I'll be watching the other videos for sure!

  • Excellent tutorial - you're a natural at getting this stuff across simply and clearly. Thanks.

  • Boring!? What are you talking abvout. One you voice is very cool. And two this really helps. I just got gimp recently and I neeed to learn more about it.

  • Another excellent tutorial. Thanks

  • Nice

  • I can't go onto the link :( Looks amazing so i'm gonna steam on ahead

  • not in the least boring..VERY VERY helpful! Thanks so much! Falling more and more in love with gimp the more I learn about it.

  • That was a really helpful tutorial. I knew some things about the path tool, but not all the really handy tricks. Finally not someone who draws something simple and just brags about it on the internet, without giving any (useful) tips.

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial! ;u; It helped a lot.

  • how do i change colors, and how do i erase sketch lines?

  • How do I move anchor points independently? My problem is when I want to draw a curved line with paths sometimes I want to move one anchor point closer to the other but when I try to move one it moves both of them. I can move them independently until I curve the path then they both move together.

  • your the best.

    congratulations Brazil !

  • just saw part one and going on to the next ! thanks for starting at "im assuming you know nothing" .... just the right spot for me!

  • Thanks! I don't think it's boring, and I acquired a lot of info. Especially was awed with the shift key to smooth things out! I never knew that. XD

  • I've taken a class in photoshop and illustraitor, but i'd like to learn more about how to make good vector art for comics and pictures. can i still do the same kind of things as the guy in the video?

  • It's not a boring video. Thanks for the GREAT tutorial, malgalin!

  • LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

  • how do u paste the pic tht u want to editin gimp???? becus i wanted to edit a meez pic but idk how 2 paste it in gimp

  • @xxsemiixx123 press start go to the right side hit pictures>then select the picture you want and drag it onto your gimp page

  • nice of you to do.

  • Thanks so much! I'm used to photoshop so Gimp was very very frustrating, and this helped a lot! Now I dnt hate Gimp as much as I did! :D

  • Nice.

  • Really nice guide!

  • thx!

  • Enkosi! ^_^

  • this is a pretty good tutorial dude!

  • yay finally found a tutorial that makes sense and easy to understand, thanks

  • Aww. The video you linked was removed. :(

  • I can't even fucking make a new path. It's not even highlighted. WTF This is total Bull

  • thanks, very useful

  • @Smileykid45 You know it :)

  • @Smileykid45 not nerdy...Artistic

  • YAY I GET IT NOW... Well... More so xD

  • i done a K. nice vid. how u colour it??

  • Not boring- a very helpful video. Thx!

  • this is not boring very helpful thank you .

  • when i stroke the path it doesnt look like its drawn over the path i made...any ideas? i have it set at 3 px and it i cant see any dark lines painted over the path i created

  • @Smacky2006 Once you stroke the path turn off the path to see if it is underneath the path. If that doesn't work, I'm stumped...

  • Thank you for making this. It is a nice simple intro to paths, and I found it very worthwhile.

  • you're so helpful. :)) thainkkyou.Ü.

  • Does any one no how to get the brush resizing tool bk... i clicked somethng by accident and now when i click on paintbrush the brush comes in one size I want to resize it bigger. I dont see the dialogue please help xx

  • Your accent kept me watching the whole thing :P

  • very good video! everything u showed, i did not know... only thing i used paths for was for selection...

  • These tutorials are helpful and appreciated. Thank you.

  • Very clear...It's easy to learn from you. Thanks.!

  • The link video has been removed

  • Thanks! This was really helpful!

  • This tutorial was more clear than the one on GIMPs web sit.

  • @cousinsforchrist The tutorials on the GIMP webbie aren't very clear to me either.

  • Thanks for this, I am new to GIMP and any type of graphic editing, just trying to play around and decide if I want to go further, this was extremely helpful in getting me started.

  • This is the best quick start on paths that I've found.

  • I've watched quite a lot of gimp tutorials but yours are the best ones. Thanks a lot.

  • This is a brilliant tutorial, can't wait to watch more, it is very helpful :D

  • when you say i'll just clear the background

you don't explain how you're doing it. You got to remember boring as it is, you are dealing with a bunch of blank pages that need mundane reinforcement. explain it step by step all the time and us retards will catch on. Thanks.

  • @reldas11 press Ctrl+A to select all. then press delete. or delete the whole layer from the layers dialog.

  • thanks...i didn't know what the Path's tool was for or how to begin to understand it...this was a big help.

  • adobe photo

  • @cruddy9611 wrong

  • I did it along with the video and then went back and did it on my own. This was great except for the part where I needed to connect the path at the end. When I hovered over it and control clicked, then was I supposed to click on the open point? I didn't get that and had a hard time getting the final point connected, but other than that, it was a very good video. I give it a 5.

  • Excellent tutorial mate, it maybe on the basic side but that is just what i need at the moment. Off to practice some paths now ....... thanks again for taking the time to post!

  • VECTOR ART?!?! i came looking for how to use PATHS, actually making lines and shapes move. where is one of thos tutorials?

  • Thanks - that was perfect for someone who has never worked with the path tool.

  • say TWO-torial not CHEW-torial.....again

  • Who says TWO-torial.... normal people pronounce it as CHEW-torial.

  • It's called an accent.

    ...

    ...

  • Thank you very much, i had never used gimp 3 das ago and now i can use layers, paths, vectors and so on. Best gimp tutorial on the internet, have recomended to lots of friends :-)

  • thanks

  • Just what I needed! THANK YOU!!!1

  • this is really helpful.. n its not boring mate !

  • 5:00

  • How in the world can i select an object again, i made i am new to this but i dont want to leave yet. can you tell me how to get something selected. i made a ellipse, but when i select something else i am not able to select that ellipse again, it making me crazy, i cant find a tool to select a particular object

  • I love your gimp tutorial series. You hit a good balance between short length and enough detail. I really appreciate it that you go step by step through the menus so a beginner can follow. But no one tutorial is so long that a person gets lost or bored. Please keep the series going.
