From the way you guys reacted to tasting the water, I'd say you were drinking tonic water, but the bottle you showed said "seltzer water", so maybe you're both just really not used to drinking fizzy water and you think/assume that it's going to be really gross tasting, or just hard to drink. I don't know. You guys reacted really strangely for just sipping a bit of seltzer water. You should expand your palettes and your minds, maybe?
This has already been mentioned, but, yes, seltzer water and tonic water are not the same thing. Seltzer water is the same as club soda or simply soda water, and they're all fizzy. Tonic water is also fizzy, but it contains an additional ingredient: quinine. Quinine is what make tonic water, tonic water, and it's what gives such a unique and rather bitter taste. At least, most people find it to very bitter; it 's really just meant for mixing, not drinking straight.
Chugging seltzer water is a true party game, screw chugging alcohol, anyone can do that, but to chug unflavored carbonated water is a real challenge. Thanks for the drinking game idea guys!
