This isn't stock... It has JE 8.5:1 pistons, balanced, cometic head gasket, and a few other bits. Those were motorcycle ITB's, not carbs, and it was running on dtaFast management. Since then, I've gone to a single throttle body and moved to VEMS management for better support and control.
Yes, I agree, that this probably wasn't the cost effective way. If I were to do it again, I'd skip the M20 and go right for a lsx swap.
Agreed with Makexxx. The conversion to Turbo isn't exactly cheap but if you do it the right way you will end up with a kickin engine. The first place to start would be Vacmotorsports go on their website and check it out. They have all of the major components that you will need. What is nice is that they sell whole internal kits so you don't have to piece one together, i.e. stronger rods, pistons and rings and so on. Also you really should ditch the carbs if you can stretch to fuel injected.

surely this is the most expensive way to up the m10 power. I dont get why not switch to a m20 or m30 lump instead?

i have the same car and engine. I just bought 2 double webers and i wanna put the turbo too.
What did you have to change from stock parts to instal turbo?
or did you only put turbo and intercooler to stock engine?

Stock M10 doesn't really like boost that much, unless it's the old 2002tii motor or M10B20.
Ditch the carbs, build the motor, get standalone ECU with EFI and then turbo it. :)
Well built M10 can handle over 500whp easily.
But I would only use old 2002 B20 blocks and 318i head or B20 head.
I had my M10B18 at 10psi with t25g and everything stock and it blew headgaskets rapidly + finally rod bearings.
