  • Anyone know what type of guitar Charlie is using?

  • Nice video! I met all 3 of them several times. Byrd was a guitar inspiration to me.

  • This is the level of performance that can only be achieved after dedicating your whole life to music.

  • Parts seem almost to have a middle eastern feel....awesome

  • go Charlie!

  • Love the shades of "shred" @2:12

  • Joe Byrd on the bass? Yeah!!!

  • Thanks for posting this.

    ...Robert

  • almost incredible..amazing

  • The guy on bass is utterly fantastic; love it.

  • Wow, I've been looking for this...thanks so much..."When you looked at me it was half past three. When I looked at you it was eternity..."

  • I'm sorry i'm not trying to be an asshole, but his brother is not very good at bass. More like awful

  • Well, you've become a succes, try or not.

  • @suggd - How is the bassist awful???

    He briliant.

    Matt.

  • i can't believe i never heard WAVE before. what a performance!

  • It's so Beautiful! Jobim is a Brazilian legend:) 5*****!

  • Jesus! I got chills when I heard this! I used to play Wave on a Yamaha organ in the 80s. I'm learning to play it on my guitar.

  • Charlie - you are my guitar hero!

  • Brasilian music are the best !

  • Jobim is a musical God....

  • Gosh imagine that. Good thing Tom Jobim felt the same way or we'd only have Samba and not Bossa Nova.

    What a dipshit comment.

  • Yes- I listened to Baden Powell. What's the point? He's good too. But this is all subjective. I very much prefer Charlie Byrd's sound.

  • Thank god most people dont agree with you. charlie is a fine player i saw him live and he is up there with the best.

  • superbe...

  • é Bossa, é Brasil!

  • Lovely rendition.

  • I had the honor of seeing this great master, Charlie Byrd, in Santa Barbara, CA in the late 1980's. He was absolutely awesome! He was the real deal! He left a marvelous legacy for those of us who aspire to the guitar.

  • THE BEST

  • Charlie Byrd and Erroll Garner my alltime "hitmen".

I think I had a prior in Sao Paolo!

  • sweet...

  • Excellet. I like this a lot!

  • beautifull! thanx for post it!

  • how wonderful it would have been to hear this in such a "club" setting.... as jazz should be heard.

    Tks for the posting

  • Beautiful rendition. I have always wanted to transfer this to piano because of the great melody. Charlie Byrd and his musicians are amazing.

  • You can find this in most good fake books, then build from there. happy arranging!

  • Thanks so much for posting Charlie!! I've been a

    fan of his since 1960.

  • What he makes of that bossa nova tune is awesome! What a solo! Thank you for posting this excellent video!

  • WOW the ContraBass player is awsome! Also Charlie Byrd

but the this Bass player is one of the bests I ever heard.

  • Shades of Scott LaFaro in that bassplaying.

  • He is very impressive.

  • who' the bass player? my dear goodness, he's can play!

  • He is Joe Byrd, Charlie's brother.

  • Thank you for this video. If you have more, please do upload it. Charlie is one my admired jazz/bossa guitarist.

  • And Charlie was a gentleman to go along with all that talent. Proud to say he invited me on stage to play...

  • wow..I had forgotten how good this man is..my guitar teacher turned me on to him years ago..thanks for the posting.

  • Wanna' bet this won't be here in 3 months thanks to copyright restrictions? Charlie was the most lyrical, melodic, technically proficient improvisationalist of his day and thank god his recordings will live forever!

  • Sorry to disappoint, but fortunately, the Youtube search and destroy crew haven't found this vid yet! :)

  • This is true talent. A classically trained jazz guitarist.

  • wow that was awesome

  • i would like to endorse the sentiments exprerssed by jazzfretboard, and would welcome more videos.

  • Thanks for sharing your Charlie Byrd video, if you have any more please post. Charlie did so much for jazz and Bossa and is often overshadowed by others. peace

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing!
