i know this video is 100 years old but i want to thank MDG for failing otherwise i would have not got a free laptop .. while trying to fix a bad windows 7 upload I was told to keep it ..uploaded windows and it runs fine.. MDG failed and ..im not good with computers so now i have a older intell core 2 duo with 2 gigs and a 320gb HD not bad for my first laptop to play around with The girl that gave it to me Her dad heard MGD sucks and bought her a I-mac lol
Is there any computer brand that you like or do you just bag them all out so YOU can make a quick buck?
be greatful because if they did a good job putting them together you would not have a job. maybe that is also why they do things like using crap hard drives and forgetting to put screws in because it gives small business owners like you a chance to make money.
try looking at things in a positive manner and stop being so negative.
I have a MDG Computer for 5 years now with no problems. After seeing this video I checked my computer again for missing screw and didn't find any missing. I also take off my cover once a month to blow out the dust. When I bought my computer I paid over $2500 and it was custom built. So I think if you buy a cheap computer you get a cheap computer. Maybe this computer in this video is one of those MDG $399 specials.
@eurokid10 Wow such hostility. Actually I'm a 30 year old married guy living in my own home.... Judging but your responses you are a 10 year old brat living in his daddy's suburban mansion typing on the fancy computer that your daddy bought for you. Are you done crying yet?
freind of mine bought a 42" lcd tv from mdg and within 6 months the power supply started having issues. TV Would shut off on its own. Within a year the power supply died.
@eurokid10 Wow such a mature and well thought out response. I didn't say they didn't make good computers, I said the company is run by immigrants with no ethnic sense and that working for MDG was the worst job I ever had. Maybe you should go work in an MDG for a few weeks and see what you think? Maybe you should work on your reading comprehension? Maybe you should look up the word comprehension? Now back to english class with you!
If you are in sales, it means you lie to every customer that walks in the door. If you are in service, you 'find' others problems with computers that come in, and charge the customer their first born for the fix.
MDG's advertising is based entirely off bait and switch. If you come in for the cheapest system, be prepared for a lengthy sob story from the salesperson about what it can't do. Don't believe a word. Yes it can get on the internet. Yes it can burn CDs. Yes it does have a PCI-E slot.
I used to work for MDG in sales and service. I built plenty of computers for them and I can tell you that the builder not putting in all the screws is pure laziness on the builder's part.
Now that being said, working for MDG was the worst time of my life. The company is run by nothing but slimey immigrants with no sense of ethics.
When my brother first got his dell laptop he brought it to me saying the casing moves and is feels loose, upon closer inspection I found that it had a ton of case screws missing.
I bought a MDG computer 2 days before the new year (beginning of 2007). When I opened it up, all of the screws are intact, it has a TurboLink power supply and a Western Digital Hard Drive. I'm still using it right now and no parts have ever been changed. I live in Ontario too :P Guess I'm the lucky one that got a pretty decent one
Wow, MDG fails epically. I build computers and I was 8 when I put my AMD pc together (cuz my uncle was a computer IT guy and I learned how, and then i made my own with no help) and I put all the screws in. That is embarassing for MDG lol.
I live in Milton, ON.
Samsung makes chips for chinese mp4 players.. WHAT DO YA KNOW they FAIL!
I use SSD for my hard drives, or for ATA i use seagate
big companies are shit for caring about others peoples computers... smaller businesses will actually do something and not try to scam you. Like for ex., my laptop... one day it stopped charging up (its ~3-4 yrs old), so I took it to futureshop for an assesment... and they told me that the mobo/battery pack needed to be replaced. I check with a local comp store... and they test the battery pack, try a replacement and oooo go figure... it works. **** future shop.
I don't know where the computer was purchased, but it's owned by someone in the London area, and as far as I know, they've lived here for years, so probably a London store.
But I know all the MDGs I've serviced haven't all come from the same store, and they've all been screwed up somehow.
I am a co-op student at MDG Computers Ontario and I have to say their service isnt that bad. So far from what ive seen when we build computers we make sure that everything is done properly before we give it to the customers. I would assume that a new employee or student made this computer or they ran out of screws.
It's entirely possible that there are good MDG stores in Canada. But as I said in the video, every single MDG machine that I've serviced in the last few years has had something wrong with it's assembly. Usually they're missing screws.
If it was a new employee, how did it not get checked by someone? If they ran out of screws, (which I highly doubt, because dozens of them come with every case I've ever seen in my shop), they should get more, rather than letting this crap out the door.
Screws, lol I forgot about that. They come with the shell.
Whoever made that computer really F'ed up. You'r right that guy should get fired. But if its a small shop hes probably the only one working there. Where I co-op at its just me and one other guy. Also some computer shells have peices prebuilt to secure the MoBo so this guy probably thought he had to put 2 screws in. honestly MDG is cool and all, but I would rather buy other name brands. Except HP >=(
And about the MoBo anchors you're talking about: I went to add screws after I made this video, and discovered that one of the anchors had been overtightened and snapped off. Rather than taking it out, they just put the motherboard in overtop of it, leaving the broken anchor in place.
wow, ok thats pretty bad, I hope this is not the MDG in Windsor, Onatrio. O_o
I know what bad reputation MDG has but at the shop I co-op at I don't see any corruption. We had this guy come in talking about a CD door spring missing. We found and empty tower shell, took the spring out and threw the empty shell away...pretty stupid but we diddn't have any other springs around. I guess just might be one of the good MDGs.
I hve that same comp its epic!
