Oh man, I remember this so well. I was 14-15 at the time and my mate bought this game. We used that 2-player option where you had to take turns and the computer would take over for your mate. I remember there was a shortcut to toggle 'break assist' on or off. If you had it on it would break way too soon, so what I always did was turn it off, keep speeding and then hit it at the right moment. It would break like mad but controllable and you'd gain a second or so.

Yes still the best simulation i've ever played. only real issue was that the computer cars were so useless at overtaking, that when the leaders came up to back markers they could never lap them. Which made it a bit easy to win on all but the toughest level.

Well, I was running the game in Dosbox 0.72, which has the feature to record videos in .avi by pressing ctrl+alt+f5

that's true. I reduced it to medium to increase the gamespeed, because it runs slower while recording for some reason. didn't want the lap to take 3 minutes, haha

I see. The gamespeed was always a problem. We had a pentium 200Mhz MMX and the game was slow in SVGA but still playable. On our next PC, a Pentium 3 it ran way too fast on the straights and slowed down to normal speed in the curves. That was really annoying. But that´s interesting, instead of decreasing the framerate, this game simply slows down to keep a stable framerate.

CTRL-ALT-F5 Start/Stop creating a movie of the screen. (avi video capturing)

CTRL-F6 Start/Stop recording sound output to a wave file.

I think that´s all you need, the files will be exported in the dosbox folder I think. I´m not sure though, haven´t recorded anything in a while.

Great lap. You have your car setup perfect. Revs are peaking just at the end of the straight after the tunnel. I could never get the hang of the gear ratio setup on GP2. Amazing game though. Don't think there has ever been an F1 game to get close to it.

Great game... But I began to play it only in 1998... I had a lot of upgrade, one of the 2000 F1 season. I enjoyed to drive uncompetitive cars (100% distance) like arrows, sauber. It was great when you were able to get championship points in semipro level...
