You showed S-S-S, S-A-S, A-S-A. What about R-H-S (Right angle - Hypotenuse - Side) and A-A-S (Angle - Angle - Side)? When there are two right angle triangles and both of their hypotenuse and any other one side is congruent, then the triangles are congruent. This is R-H-S. And when there are two triangle, both of their any two angles are congruent and the opposite sides of any one of those congruent angles are congruent, then the triangles are congruent. This is A-A-S.
This is a true story. In 2010, a girl was awake in her room late one summer night. She then heard a voice whispering "SOH CAH TOA" over and over. And then she was attacked by triangles. Now that you've read this, the triangles will come for you. If you pass it on, the squares will protect you.
I recommend this excellent Math channel: ( Mathmatchpoint ) to everyone who wants to become good at Math. He is going to teach you Math the EASY WAY, from the basic to the advanced topics. The great thing is that his videos are categorized within playlists. It is easy to know which video to watch next. This was the least I could do for him (let others know about his videos). Thanks to him, I got 97% on my Math test.
Not bad, but I'd ditch Lady Aspergers and get a dude dressed like the Predator from Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. Their HUDs are always spitting out triangles.
god damnit there needs to be a better way of finding the included angle without looking at the fucken picture, i understand that its whatever is in between the two but the retards at holt have pictures that look like a 1st grader with down syndrome drew it.
For the example c, if we have problems like that or set up in a similar way, is it always going to be SAS? It seems that way when I come across problems like those.
Wow thank you My teacher never sead we cant use ssa and he never told me AA angle had to be between the lines thanks alot :D maybe now I wont fail my test.
The 2 triangles in (d) ARE congruent. It is shocking how confused this teacher is. She knows that SSA does not ALWAYS prove congruency but she doesn't realise that if you've actually drawn the darn things and you have SSA you can absolutely prove or disprove congruency. In her example, if they were not congruent one triangle would HAVE TO look very different from the other to fit SSA and not be congruent.
@harrisventura Not true! For example, a triangle with side lengths 6 cm and 5.1 cm with the included angle measuring 60 degrees would look VERY similar to the triangle with side lengths 6 cm and 5.3 cm with the same 60 degree angle, and yet they are not congruent! If you don't believe it, construct it. Aaaaawwww, you just got nerd-served, nerd!!
The last one is NOT congruent. The claim is correct, but the explanation is pretty poor -- she basically said, 'it does not fit into our receipe.' This short lesson is certainly NOT intended to help kids' critical thinking skills. Anyway, it is not congruent because: when you have SSA, you can have two triangle with different shapes that meet the criteria. Clue:
The last one isn't congruent because we cannot have a postulate of angle-side-side. As my teacher says " we cannot have an ASS or an ASS backwards-SSA.
use a set of compass and you can prove its not, draw a line 5 cm long, measure an angle of 50 degrees at one side, at the other draw a cricle with radius 4cm you will notice it intersects with the 50 degree line twice, meaning you can construct two triangles with two sides the same and one angle the same but theses triangles are not congruent.
@Tezarious i no lol, my teacher does something that everyone gets confused with, I think its L's it looks more like 1, I can get it, but every is like WTH?

I think the example d) is a really bad one.
The last pair seems obviously congruent, and i dont see another way it could be.
Given this angle and 2 sides, there must deductions to prove the pair is congruent.
The fact that you DONT FIND a proof to tell them congruent DOESNT prove they arent.
Well, think about proving the last pair ISNT congruent....good luck
