This song help me to forget in the past many times when i lost the biggest love of my life . she comes not back but this song makes me thinking about her forever and all time when i listen this i fall in the memorys :-)
No wonder why this didn't chart, this mix which they used in Modern Girls and released as a single doesn't even sound as good as the album version on the US version of Black Celebration.
This group is so frickin talented they deserved every award possible for there music.. each one is so unique and makes u feel different.. when ever Im sad I put one of there songs on and within minutes my mood is lifted and Im smileing.. Miss u DM
I remember watching "Modern Girls" and this song was played on the credits. I also remember going "OMG it's Depeche Mode!!!! I believe i went out the next day and bought it on vinyl. I still adore them so!
Depeche Mode has said they hated the fact that the American record label flipped the "Stripped" single in America for this, which was actually the B-side to "Stripped". They considered it a "useless pop track they had put together in a day". A rather shocking sentiment since this is actually quite good. Not characteristic of their material, especially at the time, it sounds more like a Cure song, but it is still wonderful.
sigh..daphne zuniga used to look pretty here. she looks quite old nowadays. just watch her on one tree hill and you'll know what i mean. good thing virginia madsen still looks hot today..
you're actually putting dave gahan down because of his "dancing"? first of all, that's how people danced to new-wave/synthpop in the 80s. you wouldn't understand that. what people are you referring to? oh yeah, the current generation of kids who have been brainwashed by mtv and top-40 radio, that you seem to be part of. for the record, depeche mode has NEVER left.
Maybe you should go and have your eyes checked. The art of Anton Corbijn? Anton has such a distintive style that is quite recognisable. Anton would never ever film something like this video..

this is the first DM song I've ever heard--right here and right now. I got interested bc they're among Cristina Scabbia's favorite bands (lead singer of Lacuna Coil), although she also listens to some real shit, like Lincoln Park. I really dig all the visions of debauchery in this video, but the singer does come off as a complete dork in this video. Looks like he should be hanging out with Screech from Saved by the Bell! What's up with that retarded dance?
I love this song, The lyrics make me smile (if only I could be on that place)Is not my favorite, my personal favorite is... I can't say I have one. DM is the only Band that take me to different places with every song. The first song I ever heard was Blasphemous Rumors and it was ove at first sight... 14 years later is still my favorite Band
@Ataladra Can you imagine any better tune to hear while you are wandering alone in your car at night time? This tune is pure lyricism and romanticism, so typical from the futuristic 80's, these times will never be back; but not tonight is a hidden jewell from DM, in my opinion one of the best lyrics for a song; I am totally identified with its message
I couldn't have agreed more or said it better. This is an AWESOME song and I actually heard this song playing today at Macy's of all places! Depeche Mode songs always take me to a different journey, which is why I love them!
I am a DM fan and will always prefer Fly On The windscreen, Behind The Wheel to crap songs like But Not Tonight. This song was recorded within one day and only proves that if you wanna go famous go cheesy and commercial. I am glad DM chose a different path..compare this to Walking In My Shoes. Walking In My Shoes could have never be so succesful but it is a piece of art. Depeche themselves dislike But ot Tonight!
you think that preferring Fly on The Windscreen, Walking In My Shoes or Behind The Wheel to a poppier stuff like But Not Tonight is insane? Then I think the members of DM are also insane, cause they never particularly liked the song as said in many ints. Hence they never released it as a single. Theirt US label did coz of the movie. I like the darker, edgier side of Depeche. And taste is a very personal thing, don´t you think so.
I find this debate to be quite interesting, b/c based on what's played on the radio these days, I don't find this song to be so poppy. it's too artistic. in terms of getting to know the edgier side of DM, what albums would you recommend?
this release sounds dated compared to the depeche mode of 90s-current. you can't really gauge quality by comparing the two eras. both offer something different.
Sorry guys, but this is, in my humble opinion, DM at its worst. The song didn´t even make it onto the Black Celebration album for being too commercial and is popular in the U.S. cos of that movie...I am sure the band were not proud of this song either. They didn´t play it live, it´s not on the 101 live album or video casette..I can imagine Alan´s feelings :-)))
And I havent felt so alive, in years :)

Such brilliant music!!! Excellent Depeche's job with Alan Wilder, beside the art work from Anton Corbijn, the clip's director, unforgettable!

You have NO CLUE AT ALL. I won't even go into how DM has influenced probably half the bands you listen to or hear today.
I love the kids today. Talk sh!t about all these legendary groups. Shut your mouth and get an education.
