i agree but i thought that her jump itself was the position of a stag leap. so its a stag leap position except she didn't do the chasse before the jump? and that a stag jump is different in shape and form? i don't know maybe different studios call it different things.

a single stag is supposed to hav the front leg straight with the back leg in attitude and a double stag is with both legs in attitude

The postion from the ground is from the Horton Technique(Created by Lester Horton). An the leap if using the same leg shape would be a 4th postion horton leap. If you wanted a stag leap the front leg would be in a open additude infront and in back while arching towards the back foot. Both legs are turned out.

OMG...first off your front leg shouldnt be in "passe" it should be in a front attitude

secondly, it doesnt take that much force and effort to get up off the ground in a double stag

thirdly, when she actually did the jump her back leg was in an arabesque when it should have been in back attitude

aaanother thing this is a JUMP not a LEAP. and the back leg was most definitely not in attitude. it was barely bent. these videos are insults to real dancers who know what they're doing.

That was a double stag leap ! A normal stag leap has one leg bent then you "leap" backwards !

She's in attitude not passe. Passe is an action not a position. This is a double attitude position - both legs are in attitude. Since there is no pathway - as in she's not traveling - this would be a jump not a leap. She also landed in a lunge 4th not 5th....

misiaklowicz, no, that was the second take you heard the voice over on saying 5th if you watch the first demonstration she lands in fifth then immediately after that there is a replay where she steps out to forth position....he's not a dumbass, just not a lot of editing done but what do you expect for a basic 1 min youtube clip?

Technically, this is a sissonne. She's jumping off of both feet then onto one foot. A leap is jumping off of one foot and landing on the other.
