  • Don't you just love that pompous academic phrase "immature phrasing choices" Well Logan just point a few of them out for us, perhaps it's the poignant vibrato ...or a slight accelerando or no it can't be a ritenuto. Hey Logan her playing ....her phrasing might not please you ..but get over it it's a great interpretation, one of many. Check out the other version by a very young John Williams on his "A spanish guitar" LP (I think his debut LP)...

  • Where are the other movements... Do they even exist???

  • way to blast through that one without stopping to smell any roses.

  • LA vera e unica signora della chitarra

  • Ida is the Best ...End of discussion... Where to find more of their recordings?

  • I like it.

  • "..a lot of immature phrasing.." ..please!! I've seen your videos and you SUCK!!

  • Its so hard to believe a 15 year old can play with such musicality in the emphasis of their playing! She was a true genius hah, these recording really blew my socks off.

  • Ida is the only guitarist so far I know of, that started to play the Classical Guitar as a teenager. This inspires me to keep practicing!

    :)

  • oh no.... Segovia was playing for money as a child; Bream was recording for EMI and in films at 14; Williams also was recording at 17 or 18

  • but perhaps, she is the finest of all !!!

  • I believe this composition is graded as a grade 10 piece with the Royal Conservatory in Toronto and at the age of fifteen this not only an incredible performance but the best one in my book yet!

  • What is grade 10? It's difficult to keep flowing, but the mechanics are within reach of an undergraduate sophomore.

Presti plays it very well though, thanks for posting, rsgala.

  • There are grades 1 through to grade 10 at the RCM, after grade 10 there is the performers ARCT, which is the highest level you can achieve at the RCM.

  • A god performance yes a great one no. YOu can tell she is young. There are a lot of immature phrasing choices. But impressive none the less. Also, It is Federico not Frederico, only 1 R in his first name.

  • Thank you for the correction. Great phrasing sustain and beautiful tone in the Paganini Romance. To me this is were the incomparable talent of Presti shows best.

  • I couldn't disagree more. I have looked at your postings Logan and you are, clearly, a very accomplished guitarist. Of course there are immature nuances, but.....she was 15 at the time?? To be able to play this at all, at 15, is in itself a great achievement. It IS a great performance.

  • @LoganGabriel You can't even play a practiced memorized piece without dropping a few notes and blowing the ending but you can point out 'immature phrasing' (something I didn't hear) from a woman that John Duarte said that he never heard a wrong note played by Ida Presti in concert or even in practice. Furthermore you seem to know more than her teacher, Andres Segovia who declared: 'I have nothing to teach her. She should not accept the advice of any other guitarist.' when she was 13 yrs old.

  • Wonderful! At fifteen, this genius child performed at a level that many mture performers can never dream to achieve...

Thank you very much for sharing.
