  • Five years before Cesar Millan's TV show of the same name, a positive reinforcement trainer, Paul Owens, was using the "dog whisperer" name. As the "original" Dog Whisperer, in 1999 he published two books, "The Dog Whisperer" and "The Puppy Whisperer". With the subtitle "A Compassionate Nonviolent Approach to Dog Training" he has released an updated 2nd Edition, (2007) as well as The Puppy Whisperer (2007). I believe nonviolence fosters nonviolence.

  • Andrea has sexy feet

  • This man is really the orign dog whisperer - we work dogs with the same methods and it's great. You don't need to be cruel to dogs to get them, where you want them to be. Even aggressive dogs can be modulated in their behavior - they need borders, yes - but never ever cruelty like CM works with !! Thank You, Mr Owens - teach more people to train their dogs with love and respect !!! My husband and me in Germany do it, too !!

  • try googling " raise with praise" and you will find his website

  • positive train work only in easy going dogs i hope he do this job with pitbulls, rottweillers and german sheppards anyone can work with labs dah!

  • Says who??, you obviosly have never tried it, then you would not make such a goofy comment

  • i say it i do work with agressive dogs, hyperactive dogs, easy going dogs and i been attack by two gsd and rotweieller at the same time and i been unhurt of that situation...i hv training experienced in my body so i pretty much know about this can you tell me about your experiences? in the fact u hv a video of somebody also about dogs and no experience work with animals i can watch here in youtube... mmmm? yeah i think so no experiences leothehood

  • I have trouble understanding your english comments, maybe your point aint clear enough.

  • To make sure , I might want to state that Paol Owens is in my eyes the REAL dog whisper, not the FAKE edition Cesar Millan

  • probably thats the reason u think this guy is a dog whisperer and cesar not...

cuz do an interview for this tv crap segment and say is a dog whisperer... probably ur a retard but its only my view and who knos this paul owens? nobody who knows cesar millan and say is the REAL DOG WHISPERER EVERYBODY!!!

    xD

  • Just look at the dates, Paul Owen were Known as The Dog Whisperer years before Cesar Milna.

If you botter to investigate you will find out it's true.

  • Cesar Millian Is Way Better Than Paul Owens Because All This Guy Does Is Gives Dog Treats..Nd Cesar Doesn't...

  • That statement only tell how much you know about dog training, nothing. just like Cesar, Cesar is very good in hitting kicking choking strangling electricuting, "so called Alpha rolls" and so on, but he know absolute nothing about dog behavior and certainly not about dog training

Try visiting the professional dog trainers websites in USA and you will learn they all agree with me, Cesar is entertainment, nothing else.

  • @LeoTheHood if thats true how come with every dog Cesar gets results every dog every time i bet this guy cant deal with nervis dogs like Cesar the dog only does what this fella said for food dogs do what cesar askes because of respect

  • Right - CM works with choking and jerking and shocking the dogs - this is much better or what do you want to tell us ?? He is just cruel and makes a show out of it - that's all !

  • yeah...and still sucks

  • hmmm. i dont really like how he is basically just using treats. like even to get the dog down, he is just tossing a treat for her. so she is not even working for him. she is just wanting food. she is not giving him respect. so she is basically being bribed. now, with any other training, she will only work with food so that lab is gonna be one fat lab soon

  • @lenalena111 I'm responding to a 2 year old post, but it's a common misconception: people expect their dogs to do things out of love. That's not how it works. Dogs are opportunists, they need incentive. Food is an incentive. That's why most good trainers of any animal use treats. Eventually, the good behavior becomes conditioned and you don't need the treats. The other option is aversive training--punishing the wrong behavior which is what Cesar M does and is kind of crappy.

  • @Interpol017 Well that theory is debatable. There are many legitimate arguments against yours. However, as we are not dogs, we will never know for sure either way. all i know is that we never used treats to train our golden. toys were sometimes used as incentive, but rarely. our training system was a combination of a lot of praise and some corrections. she was an amazingly loving and obedient dog her whole life. and that is the only thing i can say for sure.

  • Is this supposed to be the news?

  • YES, the NEWS is?, & Paul `TM'd the term 7 years B-4 the popular TV show 5 years later. Paul choose not to fight National Geo', (a million $...), re: his servicemark 4-5 years prior), . YET, Paul's ORG. SVC MRK; 3 books (&/or DVDs) reign in the overall industy, he is the first to suggest that what Millan (Discovery Channel) purports certain abilities; Cesar HIMSELF states ~ are separate from training, & deal with other ~aspects~ of the dog. Cesar 100% agrees with Paul, ask HIM yourself, yes?

  • I don't have an opinion about National Geographic, I commented about a news channel spending time airing one of it's employees having her dog trained. It's fine to show headlines and promote this dog whisperer but 7 minutes of getting to know this lady's dog is not news and is not professional.

  • True, these morning shows are mostly all that way!
