My cat drinks the pond water, but that's probably because it's fish flavoured. It's herons you need to beware of, especially if your pond is in the open, they can clear a pond of all fish in no time.

this fish, is from the dainichi koi breeder in japan, the fish is in the blue tank, for the ALL JAPAN KOI SHOW 2007.

this showa right here, won the competiton, and is conciddered right now, as most beautifal koi in the world.  normally it stays in a larger pond. ;)

but for the breeders all that matters is that THERE name is shown with the koi. it gives the breeder status and recignission.

but there will be probably some sponser prices, like food supply or something.

koi fish, live up to 20 years easally in a good gardenpond, sometimes even the age of 40, however there have been koi, in bigger recervates, and sometimes ponds who have reached an age above 80 years.

one legend tells, that there was a 5 feet koi, over 200 years old.

althow there are in japan a few koi fish that reached lengths of almost 150 cm. i don't think 200 is possible. :)

1 the lenght, and overall body shape

2 the pattern, that is displayed on the koi

3 on the qualitty of skin,

4 on the caracter, and overall look of the fish.

Very Nice Koi,..Awesome size and sharp edges on the Hi and Sumi are well enhanced by the cherry blossom of the Hi on the right behind the pectoral. jet black sumi is just lush. I understand why it won.
