love all the arm chair CFIs out their. You guys are just compensating for your lack of S+R skill by puttin down others. You guys and gals are the ones that make aviation suck sometimes. A real CFI will be able to teach without being a control freak. A real CFI challenges his students beyond the PTS. "This time recover and roll out into a turn back to the airport". Why, you may ask, a pilot will say why not. Stay in your box geeks and watch the world go by, or shut up and live it.
I've done my TIF (Trial Instructional Flight) and am starting PPL training in 3 weeks, but I'm wondering what the sensation of an actual spin feels like. It is particularly scary maneuver on your stomach or is it just confusing?
Hi I'm well into my PPL and have completed all my spin training, the spin itself is not so bad and the stall is unoticable other than the buffet in all realy the spin is rather tame in sensation compared to how it looks however pulling out from that sort of DR (Decent Rate) is very uncomfortable. If you're training in the UK also note that you do not have to actually complete a pratical spin you only have to demonstrate that you know the recovery sequence which will be done in your SSR training.
jj9711, as a student pilot you are NOT required to actually progress into a spin, but it is not illegal for an instructor to demonstrate it. You have to be able to recognize and recover from one as a PPL, but not necessarly get into one. As a CFI you must demonstrate your ability.
No, the plane with not malfunction/crash at any time. If you follow the correct and immediate procedure, and are within the CG/speed envelope, it is COMPLETELY safe.
I bet you had a friend take you up in a Citabria once and he did a roll and you think that makes you an aerobatic pilot. Yeah, Cessna's are shit airplanes... that's why they have the best overall safety record of any GA aircraft, and is why over 50% of all initial flight training is done using Cessnas. Good call.
bro, I did my primary training entirly in a Citabria. I later bought one. I now fly regularly a Christian Eagle. I have 400 Aerobatic hours and have done Flying stunts for small productions. I have over 1000 Hours in Aerobatic aeroplanes. none of them are cessna.
So, none of your hours are in a Cessna, but you know they are shit airplanes and that their pilots have no skill. Why don't you go take an aerobat up at least once before you go talking crap? I would also like to point out that the aircraft being used above is not designed for aerobatic training, nor is it being used for such training. It is used only to train instructor candidates for an inadvertent spin recovery, in the case of a student stalling the aircraft and using improper rudder inputs.
LOL SineCalvin9 I was reading your reply and thought "Now there is an experienced pilot who has just finished a big session" and I read down and saw your confession. :)
@cessnaclub ...said the guy known as "cessnaclub". I understand they are the cheapest most available planes out there, but when compared to pilots who learned how FLY, (not drive a cessna/ford taurus) they are lacking. you probably can pace shuttle mission your wee little 172 across the midwest better than me, but I can do it inverted.
@SineCalvin9 I seriously dont understand what you are trying to say. If you are saying that you have never flown a aircraft before I have to 100% agree with you. I personally thing you a poor background person who never got the oportunity to fly an aircraft and you are just jealous of the people who can and have. :)
Whoa, buddy, I learned in a Citab, I owned a 7KCAB (Citabria) for a while, regularly fly a Christen Eagle, and fly 180s in Idaho every summer. Also fly 206/172/182 as jump aircraft.
The cessna is a great work airplane. but for actual flying, for the sake of flying, I do not like it. forgive my colorful language, I think I may have been inebriated 2 years ago. I was just looking for a fight.
Wow you're dumb. I've flown quite a few different singles and twins and still like flying a cessna. The plane that tops even aerobatic planes IMO is the A-36 I used to fly all the time.
@SineCalvin9 Dude if you want to be a fucking idiot and look cool doing a few spins with smoke coming out your ass, make my fucking day. I could really give a shit what you flew, because at the end of the day nobody really gives a fuck about aerobatic pilots, at least REAL pilots are doing something productive, not to mention making twice the money you do flying commercially. Suck on that.
@plane63 hahahaha... you're cute. My training cost 80$ and hour including instructor in a Citabria. I also learned how to FLY an airplane and not just direct it toward a runway like you did. I learned and a fly the way Capt Sully did/does. You are the bane of the aviation world, knowledge and skill limited to the video game GPS in your cockpit. You make your money flying big airplanes, I respect you for that. I have no desire. I'll be 5 miles below you having fun. PS- any extra buddy passes? :-P
@SineCalvin9 First of all, if you called me cute in real life you would be popping your nose back in place. Second of all, that's great for you, but your sport pilot licenses can suck my dick all day, they have nothing compared to a PPL. In fact, once you reach sport pilot you can hardly ever "upgrade." So if you want to have your fun PAYING to fly, I'll have my fun GETTING PAYED to fly. Now go on and fly your little 2 seater in circles.
@plane63 did I say I was a sport pilot? I am single/multi/commercial/instrument/glider pilot. I get payed to fly, sailplanes, towplanes, skydiver ships, agro, and the occasional commuter taxi. I'll bet you your snazzy uniform I could still fly a full CAT I smoother than you. :-P.
@SineCalvin9 Buddy, buddy, easy now. Easy. Don't shit your pants, those are jobs I did when I was 19 :-P, now I'm flying learjets for people who have more money than you can even think up. I'm doing this with about the same ratings you have, with the exception of the glider, which I did when I was 14 but gave up because it was quite boring. Are you sure about the CAT I? Well, I'll be damned if you could. Anyway, go on and fly your little Citabria in circles.
@plane63 I am jealous of the Lear flying, not gonna lie. And not a huge fan of sailplanes myself, other than doing acro in them. Today we did pre-runs of a close formation between a wingsuit and Edge 540.
@SineCalvin9 That's great, but don't go dissing Cessna. Yeah aerobats are awesome to watch but at the end of the day the real pilots are training in Cessna.

I love flying. But I hate doing power-on stalls- power-off is not an issue. I dread spin training.

nice spin, and unusual that its to the right!
a plane is pretty benign in a spin as it is stalled, beware the spin becoming a spiral dive though, watch your speed indicator
blimpknob 3 years ago
not bad just have to rember recovering from the spin to make sure the wings are level

Odd, PPL's here are not required, CFI's Are.
Monday i'm taking another training flight, still on stalls, going into a spin. And No, My instructor is not "Demonstrating" it, I'm doing it.
DoDBacon 3 years ago
good job! is that a requirement for a student pilot? And will the plane malfunction and crash at any time?

I have done around 300 hrs of aerobatics in PT-6. a chinease single engine aircraft. Can you do basic aeros like loop, roll, roll of the top in C152?

that was weak. NO one should learn in a cessna. they are shit aorplanes. learn in a Citabria. Bessna pilots are not pilots. no skill at all.

I have 1.7 hours in a Aerobat 150, 22 hours in a 150, 90 hours in a 180.
I needed the instruments in the 150. i tried the aerobat so i could know what i was making fun of.
I understand the use of these airplanes to do spin training in, and the need for students to understand the dynamicsof spins.

All primary pilots should undergo spin training, if for nothing else, just to see that they won't kill you if you have any altitude at all. IMHO

they wont kill you if u know how to recover
