Up here, there's no such thing as getting close to a lizard. At 10-15 feet they take off to hide even with slow movement. Plus, I'd have no patience with this and get pissed lol. I use bucket traps. Dig a hole for a 5 gallon bucket, put the bucket all the way in, level the dirt up to the rim, and throw flat wood on it.

Thats cool, I don't have any lizards where I live except my pet ones, and the only times I have to catch them is when they jump away because something scared them. But I'm on vacation and driving through lizard land. ive never caught a wild one I have no idea. All of them freak out when I approach them.... I know they can see you from the sides and they can sense your shadow and movement with there parietal eye but is there a way to get near them without them seeing you?

@techwizzy hm.... so where do you live? i live in north carolina and i know there are some logs with skinks around them but they run like road runner when you get near them lol. ive heard they are a little slow in the mornings. oh and is it ok if i use some kind of colored string? there are some woods around me but i dont go in them in the summer lol.... snakes and poison ivy DXXXX

i wrangled two lizards with it, one i caught and one got away. the first one was bleeding in the back where i caught him, but i let the lizard go.

@hubjubjub When I used mine I went for the neck, it was a good fit for the end of the catcher and a strong spot to catch the lizard unlike the tail which always falls off :) Good to hear many people made this!
