congrats to Blue Origin for this amazing space vehicle. I for one, am happy that billionaires are spending their money to advance these technologies when governments fail to support space exploration but are happy to build the next big bomb or Tank.
@VideoFromSpace Oh, OK then, that's great. My mother works at Blue Origin and tells me we are never, ever supposed to share these videos publicly with anyone.
@BigOto2 Please give her our best wishes. It's important and good work. We have been reporting on VTO/VL spacecraft since the DCX project. It's great to see this vital technology come alive.
@Youbian Or maybe it's a group of accomplished, tech-savvy individuals who want to leave a legacy of opening the vast resources of near-Earth space to benefit the residents of Planet Earth? Maybe you should give them a little credit, instead of being so blindly jealous? I'M JUST SAYIN'...
@VideoFromSpace More likely, they're either a) using their money for yet another adrenalyn-fueled romp, b) planning on commercializing space travel for personal gain, or c) want to ensure their own escape plan for when the world is inevitably no longer able to sustain life.
@GoldGriffin80 a) possibly - which would be their right, as much as we might find it distasteful; b) undoubtedly true, which would STILL have the effect of opening the space frontier to humankind. And btw. frontiers - including the USA – always been pioneered just this way; c) that will be a very, very long time from now, probably ~5 Billion years when the Sun swells; 'til then, life (not necessarily human life) is in for a generally smooth journey. Relax. Enjoy the ride.
@Gubru No, we're all to preoccupied with our own little rock. I think as commercial space flight evolves and becomes more real to people, this stuff will be in the news much, much more :)
@EODsplosion You would have seen the same phenomenon in the mid-1990's during the tests of the DCX vehicle, the direct ancestor of Blue Origin's VTOL-rocket vehicles.
@EODsplosion You're going to see a lot more "discreet" programs. Unlike taxpayer-funded endeavors (the US space program, for example), private launchers are under no obligation to show anything to anybody, unless they land contracts to fly for public projects.

In before Blue Origin files a copyright claim on this video. It's supposed to be totally private.

@BigOto2 Not so. We were granted rights as news release footage.

What is it with billionaires and space ambitions. / Maybe they're trying to escape the orbit of their ego.

It makes me sort of sad that news like this is so hard to come by anywhere but scouring the Internet. Does nobody care about the Cosmos anymore?

I really didn't expect the rocket to stop in midair. That was incredible!

@VideoFromSpace I wasn't even aware of the existence of this program. Space.com said that they have been rather discreet.
