  • ps,if you think it is the same footage, check out Tom's clothing. He isnt wearing the vest he had on in the first movie. There ya go.New Footage.

  • Ok,..in this film,..the horse did not die onset! The rumor millls started that crap, and the Lovicks have set the record strait.Check their website. They owned all the horses and much of the land used in the movies. Also,it is all new footage, and not copied and pasted from the first movie. Please, get your facts checked out before posting things, guys!

  • denny was far more valuable a horse than that wild black stallion running around, seriously, a true mountain horse and friend with true wit and courage. this is the scene i felt it the most in the movie.

  • Makes me cry every time

  • Come on Denny, are you ready for this one? (Because it will be your last). It's so sad that horse actually died. I know that look in the horse's eyes (death), you can't fake that. I do wonder though if they tripped the horse on purpose (since the close up camera shot was right there) or if that was an accident and they just integrated the shot-gun discharge after the fact to further thicken the plot. Sad either way. =/

  • @emr2e that's a complete rumor. the movie was made in 1995, with the laws and humane society protection there is no way that they would be allowed to use the footage of an actual horse dieing. They would have had a huge lawsuit if they had "tripped the horse". The reason the horse's eye looks dead is because it was fake and never had any life to begin with.

  • @dhhp171519 It's not just a rumor...it's a fact. Google "aha return to snowy river" and look up the first link that shows. If the server doesn't respond, check the cached version. Animals have died in several movies (for real) and the movie goes on. All that happens is that the movie doesn't get the AHA seal of approval. Take "Flicka" for example. 2 horses died during the making of that movie.

  • @emr2e I know that animals die in the making of films all the time. But most are accidents. All the aha movie review said is that an animal died, nothing about using the film. Maybe I didn't make sense before, what I meant is that they would not put actual footage of an animal dying into the finished film.

  • That would hurt so bad.

  • Denny id say was better horse than the black stallion bye far

  • Man, this is so sad! Its because of this scene that my mom won't watch the movie.

All saddness aside, these movies show excellant horsemanship, especially how they did the "descent" scene and Denny's (the horse) fall at 3:30. I wish they had a behind the scenes for this movie.

  • im glad you cut that fall out.. i found it quite disturbing!

  • when i first saw this movie i just fricken cried my eyes out! so i vowed to never watch it again, yet here i am ;(

  • Prick.

  • and i cried with him.

  • in this clip, it shows the seperation of a real commentment of a man and his horse. and the others of how they arent. thats why , the name of the movie is so true.. the man!

  • i will always remember it also, love love it. serious.

  • Brillaint movie!! Got goosebumps whenever I hear this song!! It only takes a brief sec of the music to play, to recognize this movie!! One of my favorites. It breaks my heart every time I see this scene just because Denny is Jim's favorite loyal horse, all the way from the first film.

  • this is too sad.... :(

  • I LOVE this scene and this movie!

  • This scene in this movie is one I always remember.

  • @horsesaremylife31899 Retrun to Snowy River was edited and released in 1988. Your "slowing things down" and "cutting them" is not as easy as you seem to think. It is two different scenes not the same scene. Plus the jump is bigger and the descent is much longer in the 2nd one. Also he received the role due to his ability to accomplish these scenes as a stunt man. Jim Craig is a beast and he nutted up and did it twice. Don't disrespect that.

  • That's an awful loss. 3'(

  • this is the legand that is on our grand 10 dollar bill !!

  • thats how my beauty girl lays her ears hen me gallop you Beauty !!!

  • Poor denny :< made me so sad first time i saw it.

  • They replayed the jumping scene from the first one

  • @horsesaremylife31899 no they didn't its a different jump scene

  • @JimCraigForeverMJF Yes it is the same when they dhow Denny's belly while he is jumping it's the same.

  • @horsesaremylife31899 i just watch the scene its not reused footage because Jim really rode down the Descent in both films

  • @JimCraigForeverMJF OK just as long as that's what you believe. But I am more than sure that when they show under him they used the same one.

  • @JimCraigForeverMJF also he carries a long whip in the first one

  • @JimCraigForeverMJF i did the same thing; its totally different footage from one another

btw thanks for the upload, one of the best movies ever

  • @horsesaremylife31899 I was curious to see if this was true...so I pulled them both up played side by side...different footage for sure... similar...but than they should be about the same since its the same place...

  • @horsesaremylife31899 dunno how you figure that one out as it looks almost completely dif! it IS a new ride! what id l ike to know...how they do the fall & death scene at that speed...or did they really kill a random horse for that? doubt it but it looks quite real!

  • @mystiquesword They use stunt horses.

  • @horsesaremylife31899 no sht!!! i know about stunt horses....but that does NOT answer my question. AT ALL! thanks for trying though...

  • @mystiquesword You know when they film they can slow things and cut them out and the stunt horses are usually trained when they hear a word to do what Denny did. BTW they can't kill or harm animals in the making of movies because it's a safety hazard for the person and cruelty to the animal.

  • @horsesaremylife31899 nope, different tack in the two diff films- he was wearing noseband 1st film, none + stock bridal in this one

  • @horsesaremylife31899 The clothes are a different color and he doesn't have th stock whip in hand-different scene

  • @horsesaremylife31899 no they didn't, if you watched them side by side, you would see that the horse is younger, not as sweaty. And also the cliff is dryer in the first ones. In this one the horse is all sweaty, its wet on the mountain

  • @horsesaremylife31899 They couldn't. He had a whip in the first one.

  • @GridJumping I am talking about the just show scene where it shows Denny's belly plus that 7 months ago you don't need to comment on it

  • @horsesaremylife31899 You can still see the whip.

  • Denny was the best horse

  • This is why this western is 1000 times better than any of the rest. While sad, it's nice to see a cowboy cry over his trusted steed's demise. I hated movies like Lonesome Dove and Braveheart, where they seem to glorify killing horses.

  • Killing Denny was the most unnecessary part of this movie! That horse was awesome!

  • @AlexYamada How else would we really come to hate the SOB who murdered him, and for Jim to come to terms with the black stallion.

  • I still cry every time I watch this. Poor Denny. What an awesome horse :(

Thanks for uploading this as I've destroyed my old vhs tape watching the chase scene over and over again.
