@SolderingGeek I've been using 375C (700F) is this too hot then? I'm mostly using drag soldering on smd's, so the iron isn't on the pins for very long.

No, it is flux and it is used to enhance solder wetting.

Where to look for flux and solder ? The hobby-style electronics shop I know all sell various kinds of lead-free solder with flux inside, but no bare solder nor flux.
