it is interesting to watch the various appearances of joshi in wwf & wcw. their matches are defiantly shorter and they use fewer moves (or different ones than they usually use). you've got to give them credit for being adaptable. I also like to see american wrestlers going to japan and how they do over there (hulk hogan vs. the great muta for example, amazing)

I'm saddened to see, just as with so many characters, a version of Bull Nakano that WCW seemingly tweaked in to parody. Rather than her usual slow, mysterious, austere dirge of an entrance, to be juxtaposed by her savagery in the ring, we get Bull hamming and screaming her own name.

Actually, one of my favorite clips of all time of Bull Nakano is of her being "interviewed" by Todd Pettingill-although she only speaks in Japanese her facial expressions are priceless and her eyes are most mysterious--I like many guys have always found her to be a very pretty girl-in an undead sort of way. Yes, Jerry the Stooge Lawler, I know is is not the Kelly Kelly or Trish Stratus type but that is ok.

I liked the joshi culture of having women of all sizes and shapes and characters to make up their rosters, not trying to make every one a glamor girl. so some wrestlers went out of their way to be "ugly" not just in their actions but in their looks as well.

I guess they figured the american crowd wouldn't boo her unless she was an insane monster, not just a regular cheater with a crazy getup. anyway, it's a miracle that we had some good (but short) joshi matches in America in the glory days of pro wrestling. it's a pity they didn't do more. anyone who thinks this is good would be blown away by some of the great stuff from the 90's in japan.

@charlietjr the other thing is that in japan nakano was nowhere near the "worst girl" and was positively adorable and heroic compared to some of the others. ;) but in America she had to take the top spot as quickly and cheaply as possible. so I guess what I'm saying is I can't really blame them for how her character was used. it's too bad she got caught with drugs, or maybe it could have gone further (or maybe they would have ruined her like so many other angles, who knows)

The reason is probably due to promotional issues, money, and Madusa not knowing who Lola Gonzalez was, maybe.

Everything else aside, there was the same problem with Madusa wrestling Reggie Bennett--as great as Bull was, her main "persona" was that of a heel--against the All American girl, Madusa--ok, I don't think so either but the WWE fans bought it. Reggie and Lola were always babyfaces--presents a problem for Donna Miceli and Don Vinnie.
