my father loved this song but can't play this it so i figured out to learn to play it and when he heard the intro he looked by me and then we sang the verses. >:) This song reminds me of him. His an engineer and i'm an engineering student but i'm not that good in math. One could say its 'a poor attempt' to imitate my dad. When I went up and away to college--for the first time ever-- some of the girls in the other suite came over and we became friends. Though the relation doesn't really have to be about the career choice, you can think of a family as a band where there is a leader and a second chair, etc... That's the analogy of this song. When they hear that the song is actually 'Leader of The Band, their faces soften and it looks as though they are remembering something wonderful.
