Attention Drummers/musicians!!! Get the book "realistic rock" by Carmine Appice!! If you like 60's-70's rock drumming it's the Bible. It turned my hopeless brother into a real rock guy. He would work on it every day and half way through the book and after learning the first Zeppelin record beat for beat he would go back to the jams and sound exactly like Simon Kirk of Free and Bad Company...with bonham fills to boot. It could save rock drumming im serious. Amazon.com
I've seen these guys in Detroit while visiting 3 times!! Love this band!! Cool to talk to, and the Detroit music scene is way cool thanks largely to "the ugliest band in the world." The Omnipotent Muggs!!!
the way these guys went out of the next great american band competetion just shows how out of touch most of america has become with what is great sounding music. it is such a disappointment that the music now looks great but sounds like crap. this is a special band of real musicians, not a bunch of wannabes that look pretty and dance around like fairies.
keep this video in perspective. it's one solo from the first song we ever wrote. Danny's just vamping and having a good time. simple song. nothing that's gonna change the world. just try to enjoy.
They do indeed yourtubesteak (kickass moniker btw) and taste in music is of course ultimately subjective. Scott Morgans asphalt tough rockin' is of course legendary, I like the stuff he's doing with Nick Royale from the Hellecopters in the Solution. Thanks for not taking umbrage at the last comment ha! 16 with a bullet man..
For the record they absolutely ripped the place up! The crowd went crazy apeshit except for yourtubesteak who stood in a corner and stared at his shoes.
They may sound like a late sixties band, but that's when music was good.Music now-a-days sucks. Flat out. Detroit's music scene sucks now because MAINSTREAM CRAP took over. Music lost all it's ambition rolling out of the early eighties and now all we've got bull alternative, metal (which is very accuretly named because it sounds like somebody throwing a hammer down the plumbing section of home depot), and [c]Rap. These guys are a solid band, and sounds like somebody needs to shut up and listen.
Whatever rock Judas. Alucard is a pretty rockin' band but they rip from Soilwork and BrightEyes so what? Anyway I'm going to see the Muggs tonight and it promises to be a brutal freight train to fuckall!
I do agree with you on that. They do sound like so much like everything else done before. So do the White Stripes and look at them! If you want the truth, I feel pretty much every band in Detroit, save for Universal Temple of Divine Power, Capitol Cities, Singles, sounds the same. Check out UTDP sometime, you'll be pretty amazed at the originality in there.
I watched Rock'n Roll Safari and these guys rock! The whole story behind the band with the bassist and the stroke and them coming back is amazing. I wish I could play the guitar like that! Great underground band that should be known.
Tony is my hero. He's been through so much and he's just doing so much better now. He keeps the great attidude about him that can't help but admire him.
Also watch Rock'n'Roll Safari again this Sat for Hotness. These guys are the underdogs of the series. They get kind of shafted by the Detroit music scene, but the drummer and the lead gutiarist are amazing they're the strong points of the band I feel, if anything, they're really the reason to watch.
Wow, that's a little harsh. The Muggs are a fanstic band. Yes, Danny admits he rips from Peter Green and Catus, but the sound's great and they're amazing live. Of course there's a ton of bands that don't get the recongonition, my boyfriend's band hardly gets a nod, but they're amazing as well. It's how Detroit goes. Hence why so many of the really good bands are either leaving the the city or just ending it, like the Capitol Cities.

Bands don't have to be worlds apart to be different you know, just cause they all play in the same style doesn't mean they all sound the same
