He plays a lot of dissonant-sounding chords. Based on that sweep picking lick he played at the start of the video, I'd like to hear more of his lead guitar prowess. I thought he was only into slow and heavy downtuned riffs.

does anyone know this guitar he's using?

i've been looking non stop for a 6 string guitar that he uses, but all i can find are 7s and 8s. I'm pretty sure this one's an LTD, just not the name of the model.

@Sappiest It's not an LTD, it's an ESP, one of his many customs. The 6 strings aren't being made anymore, and this one was never offered as a production model to the public. You could always order one with the same specs from the custom shop, but it would be around 8 months of wait and probably around $3k.

@JonCurcio i am not actually sure it dependend on the psecs but tried to order a bottom of the line i mean the most basic and it was around 2.9k i am sure this one is way more

@aadame90 I've done some checking and it would be about $4k if ordered today from a reasonable dealer. The specs on this model aren't anything fancy. You can buy NOS 6 string Carpenter sigs for 2k retail (check drumcityguitarland), and when the model was released back then it wasn't expensive. This one has a different finish, but that's about it.

@drummerlandin Nope, it's drop C# aka drop Db (flat). If you tried playing along in drop D you would be missing that lowest note.

@greenMXR Great ear man! Since the self-titled album tour began, Stephen played only 7-strings from here on out (until he got his 8's of coarse) with two high E strings. Thanks to Wes Borland, he was able to have the feel of the 7-string neck and still be able to comfortably play 6-string songs without the low B getting in the way. For example:

Fur: C# G# C# F# A# D# D#

Pony: C G C F A D D
