  • all ways listen to these young brothers speeches

  • Crack is a hell of a drug.

  • whats the backing track playing for the first couple mins ANYONE??? guitar is amazing

  • Bring back the panthers!

  • @ACNSH The Black Panthers is a racist, radical group that professed the murders of law enforcement officers. Members and former members of the group were responsible for the murders of at least 15 law enforcement officers and the wounding of dozens more across the nation.

  • @Josvdb89 that is wrong the black panthers is not a racist group they do not terrorize and kill for nothing like the kkk the black panthers is a group that stands up for rights for black and yes white peope died from us but we never steped to them they stepped to us

  • @Josvdb89 they professed the murders of cops? where did you get that from

  • Not the best impersonation. It's a little to jive for how huey actually talked imo.

  • I can't understand anything Roger is saying

  • I love it when people do this stuff

Not violence, but when they say "We ain't gonna take this SHIT NO MORE!"

    Examples:

    Black Panthers-African Americans

    Stonewall-LGBT

    Women's Suffrage-Women

    (please respond with more. Thanks)

  • amazing

  • I think what people miss the most important thing about the work of the Black Panthers. Yes, Huey was on drugs but it doesn't take away from the serious issues he raised and the state of Black America still to this day, Blacks make up the most population in Prisions. Not just because they committed a crime but for the reasons that they can't afford proper representation and don't have jury of their peers. To say the least!!!!!!!

  • that's the guy from do the right thing by spike lee. such a brilliant movie

  • My nickname for Huey: virgin

Why? Because he doesn't fuck around

  • that guy loooks white lol

  • Yall know why he was talking too fast. He was using here, he definitely on one.

  • @GhettoStarFresh Or it is just someone who looks like Huey doing a poor impersonation.

  • my grandfather owned this baboon's granpappy...

i'll do the same to these charcoal pickaninnies

  • @NIGGAKILLAMF get a life

  • You know this man played this to the T, when people think its actually huey lol. Power to the people

  • Interesting VIDEO ~We got to keep in mind that this is an actor here, not actually Brother Huey, but he did a good job. Want to see the whole movie. The Survival Platform was the core of the Black Panther Party. It is always easy to look back into time and criticize negative aspects about Brother Huey, but we should see his life in the context of his overall positive contribution the people's collective liberation movement.

  • "Establishement"?

  • "2 shots in the dark now huey's dead" - 2pac Shakur...

  • 1970's - Vietnam War, Prejudice against Blacks

    2010 - Iraq-Afghanistan War, Prejudice against Muslims

America never learns. The way shits going american deficit will reach 20 trillion by 2015 and the idiots running the country will all be DEAD!

  • ok he was killed in a bad drug deal was he giving the drugs or getting someone please clear that up for me.

  • @allusia16 all the sources ive read said he was getting the drugs, but alot of people think it was a police setup

  • I remembered watching this for the first time, absolutely love it.

  • this is a play by spike lee about huey

  • he was killed on a bad drug deal by a 19 yr old punk, set up by the police

  • he was killed on a bad drug deal by a 19 yr old punk

  • that is actor Roger Guenveur Smith speakin huey p. newton words...

  • this is a kind of rap

  • Roger G. Smith was awesome in this... Great actor

  • i think this guy is a terrible fuckin actor. huey didn't talk like that at all.

  • I strongly despise all black leaders who wanted to integrate blacks and whites. I believe in a separate nation. Segregation should be brought back.

  • @IntelligentBlackMale

I agree! Peaceful segregation is the answer. White with White and Black with Black and never the twain mate. BTW, it was the Jews who were the main slave traders; later, they pitted White against Black while enslaving both through increasingly oppressive laws.

  • @Catuxalina51488B I should have known that the Jews were behind integration. I guess all races should agree that Hitler was right.

  • @Catuxalina51488B How stupid can you think. Segregation.... Wake the fuck up.

  • @GrimmUsA

Are you a nigger? Niggers have slanted eyes like chinks! Ah so, fo sho!

  • i wonder if huey newton was a muslim? i wonder if most of those panthers were muslims and if any of them were christian...

  • @FuckUtube2008 i dont know about muslim but i watched a movie and a strong basis of the black panthers was how black people had been praying for freedom for years and years but they need to do somthing besides pray, my assumption is that most of them did not have a strong belief in any sort of god and relied on themselves to change everything

  • ... Freedom: By Any Means Necessary ... we have a loooooooooong way to go!

  • GENERAL HOSPITAL@ GENERAL HOSPITAL! GENERAL HOSPITAL# GENERAL HOSPITAL ^ GENERAL HOSPITAL% GENERAL HOSPITAL $ GENERAL HOOSPITAL& GENERAL HOSPITAL*GENERAL HOSPITAL)

  • Huey talked like that because he was fearing that he could be killed at any moment.. He went paranoid.. RIP Brother Huey

  • He's a good actor, he sounds JUST LIKE HIM

  • seen it so long ago

  • RIP HUEY

  • whos the man at 2:04?

  • @eddwinnr , His name is Marlon Brando, he was an actor best known for his work as Vito Corleone in The Godfather

  • this is a one-man show/performance-i think that's why he's talking that way... it's not a traditional movie role, lol

  • I think they should of have the original actor from panther Marcus Chong who played Huey Newton play this role as well.

  • the guy looks just like him but the guy talks way too fast lol great video

  • huey is a great speaker but it seems to be he is talking very fast lol

  • @robisgangsta1 Drugs...he was a drug addict the 2nd half of his life.

  • @KarlDaggerfield i thought that was a cover up.

  • @robisgangsta1 This is not Huey P. Newton

  • @AliXShakur haha i figured that out a long time ago.

  • @robisgangsta1 that wasen't Huey P Newton here in this video he was qouting the real Huey P NEwton. part of first half should Huey.

  • @robisgangsta1 that wasen't Huey P Newton here in this video he was qouting the real Huey P NEwton. part of first half should Huey. Its clear just listen with your mind open.

  • @spiritwolf50 dude i figured that out a long time ago....

  • @robisgangsta1 yeah if you listen to his interviews he doesnt talk to this fast

  • Intense!

  • Man, does anybody have the entine showing of this????

    I NEED IT!!!!

  • Huey had the answers and the response to the government. the fact they tried to cover his death with a drive by is horrid

  • What? Huey wasn't killed in a drive by.

  • yeah i was told by someone that he was, i googled him to find out full story. thanks

  • Please stop spreading false information about how Huey died. He was shot by Tyron Robinson, a drug dealer he had known for 2 years in a face-to-face confrontation. NO CARS WERE INVOLVED. IT WASN'T A DRIVE BY.

  • it was by accident, you corrected me and i said thanks. please move on with your life and past 1 simple mistake

  • You never said it was a mistake; you said that you had "googled it". There was no clarification, therefore no correction took place. As a result, someone else posted (BIGDADDY328) agreeing with you past claim that it had been a driveby. But now you have cleared the air by saying that it was, in fact, a mistake to post that he had been killed in a driveby. It is a good thing that people will not be confused about how Huey died, since that is someone's life and the facts need to be clear.

  • i worded my apology incorrectly, sorry.

  • YES HE WAS...IN 1989!

  • No offense, but do you do any research before responding to posts? Because it is quite easy to look up Huey Newton on the internet and read that he was killed in a face-to-face confrontation with a drug dealer that he had known for 2 years. There were no cars involved. It wasn't a driveby.

  • i clearly said i was mistaken, i believed my source, but he was incorrect. The fact you are so upset over a mistake i made 2 weeks ago is sad. get over it, I'm human and i made a mistake. sorry for spreading incorrect information, but i was corrected and i thanked you. so please move on with your life and stop crying over 1 mistake.

  • no. He was killed/shot in a drug deal gone bad in West Oakland.

  • @cremefresche

He was addicted to crack, sadly.

  • @tookfounie Nope...failed drug deal.

  • @tookfounie IVE always been curious of that people say he was shot during a bad drug deal, do you know how he was actually killed????

  • @tookfounie thts wat the government wants u to believe

  • @tookfounie On August 22, 1989, co-founder and leader of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense, Huey P. Newton was fatally shot on the 1400 block of 9th street in West Oakland by 24-year-old Black Guerilla Family member, Tyrone Robinson.. Newton's last words, as he stood facing his killer, were, "You can kill my body, but you can't kill my soul. My soul will live forever!" He was then shot three times in the face by Robinson, who went by the street name "Double R"

  • @darzus40

Drive-by's involve CARS. This was a FACE-TO-FACE shooting.

  • Brother Huey P. Newton is a warrior.

Brother Huey wasn't scared to put his life on the line for his brothers and sisters.

Brother Huey was clever and he was a victim of decieption and conspiracies to destroy him, when they evenually did.

Brother Huey wasn't a cracker, but I know who is one!

  • Who is the actor playing Newton in the staged portion of this documentary?

  • i kno that dude! its the dude from poetic justice - "i got ur BITCH!!!" and hes in deep cover - "aint had pussy since pussy had u!". dont rmbr the dudes name, tho. sorry!

  • Roger Guineveer Smith

  • huey is crackin in this clip. looks like he had alot of stuff goin on in his brain

  • You do realize that this is an actor.

  • tru. i saw him in a hbo docu like a day after

  • I can't find the full version on here anymore :( one of my favorite films. I hope it comes back.

  • I mean, whos the guy that talk along the video?

  • no he s just an actor thats really educated that he playd in a movie called all about the benjamins and a few other movies

  • Insn't Huey P. Newton the guy who is talking right?

  • Its not wether its the right time, its whether the people understand the state of revolution. The people need to be devoted to the ideal, the power has to be in the hands of the people and not in the elite imperial power. Once the people realize their power, then the people will rise up against the totalitarian rule in place. Who gives a fuck about the president he's just a face, but the real power is in the hands of those you don't see. Corporations have totalitarian methods to stay on top.

  • I feel that coming out is the decision of the person who chooses to come out. I don't think that there is such a thing as a right or wrong time. There will always be danger in a Neo-liberal society. The doctrine is already set. Anyone who steps out the structure that's already set will be in danger.

  • Why we should not come out, and when we do, it should be right. It is the inwards inwards, the inwards outwards, the outwards outwards, and the outwards inwards. If there is a thinker that can convince me that I am wrong, please sit and lets talk. A true master understands the times, the internal, the potential of harm.

We are born to be wrong.

We empty out all things wrong.

  • thats whats wrong today the white man tore down the panthers and split them up into the bloods and crips

  • this is an interesting depiction of huey because i dont think he was ever this eloquent...this is certainly huey on coke

  • He was in the TV Show "Oz"

  • I want a world where we have the freedom to express our individuality and live out our purposes pursuing happiness without this decadent american society trying to hold me down with its economic exploitation. They create this society where your orn in the ghetto and you die in the ghetto period.

  • this isnt a word for word account and the canned laughter was in poor taste

  • We need to stop acting like 'freed' people and start acting like 'free' people. -krs 1

I wish all you people posting comments lived in Modesto so we can start an organization and start having meetings. So we can talk about the issues, how to approach them, and put them into action. Cause that's what it's all about. The communties need to start a movement. Fuck complaining to the Gov, lets all start helping each other and get the fucken ball rollin.

  • @LILADOWNS yesSIR

    btw Grandaddy rocks

  • Well, simple question to you...how do we start now? What are you doing? I believe that it's about waking people up from the propaganda and the United States doctrinal structure. Tell me some of your ideas. How do we approach the problem?

  • I don't mean every now and then, I mean they need to show this most of the time. Instead of bullshit all the time, they need to show this stuff to wake the youth up.

  • i know what you mean broutha but if we want it to be shown we should be the ones to show iinstead of talkin about it being done....and we should start now.

  • We are need even close to free. I'm 26 and have been a political activist since the age of 22. The only thing I've seen is Cheney and Bush disappear. It seems to me that very few people care.

  • When someone steps up, they are neutralized. I hate it because all my friends I try and tell them whats going on, literaly, but they don't listen. They're too caught up with the propaganda.(Music, TV, Politics) People just don't care nowadays and it's fucken sad and irritating! I noticed that people only listen to u if u have women, money or a following of ignorance. People need to wake the fuck up and have their own ideals. I like this video, this is what needs to be shown on MTV & BET

  • Damn, but the actor's voice is hypnotic. I could watch this all day.

  • yeahh

  • THAT WAS A WONDERFUL PIECE.

  • hold up is this really him or someone pretending?

  • its an actor

  • It's an actor who is mocking the great Huey P. Newton, an actor who can only pretend to have the mental altitude that Huey Newton possessed.

  • that actor was in the movie "Malcolm X" by Spike Lee

  • Huey looked white here lol

  • Marlon Brando in 2:09

  • 2pac roots...

  • my god,my god let freedom ring let ring because we will rise up!!!!!!

  • yes he was, Smith nailed him down to the core

  • THIS IS AMAZING

    TRUTH is sooooo POWERFUL

This is TRUTH that America has not been able to handle until very recently... May they now AWAKEN!!! all black, white, brown and red

  • Spike Lee is a genius in all his films because he panders to the audience on the surface yet the truth is always just under the surface. In this case, the Newton character gives lip service to all the marxist 60's rhetoric and the audience responds positively as expected but Newton says all of this with a herion addict's shakes and rambles like a distrurbed drug addict. To me this is the icon of the 1960's radical. Cool and hip yet flawed, disturbed and unsavory at the same time.

  • I don't like his portrayal of X or Huey personally. For instance in this clip he he is made to look like some sort of camp eccentric. If you read his book however or watch the actual clip(s) of him speaking you get a grasp that he was a completely rational earthy man.

That said, anyone who is bringing more publicity or attention to these great people of history is probably doing a good thing.

  • The truth of this "great" person is more complicated. He was an abusive thug who, in the words of another abusive thug, George Jackson, made "Marxism his hustle" and hustled many people.

  • That's open to opinion and unless you knew the man you don't know nothing.

Flawed or not he was a saint compared to the scum he was working against.

  • At least your proud of your ignorance.

  • Of fools like you, yes.

  • Clearly that's not the case. Apparently it is true for you.

  • This guy played this part VERY WELL! I always like him (forgive me, I can't remember his name:( )

  • Roger Guenveur Smith

  • thank you ;)

  • if ppl in America would realize that their president has only a role in a puppet game, then maybe someday we can finally have peace in the world

  • isaw this live at ohio state university...smith is an acting giant in his own right...very moving; and very accurate..what was wrong with huey?...apartheid.

  • Huey P. Newton was a revolutionary. The government won't allow the black panther even be mentioned in the history books because of their ideas and actions. J.Edgar Hoover stated that they were a threat to national security.

  • It is ironic that our country sent men to Viet Nam to fight Communism, yet Communists were in government at all levels especially in the 70's. Today we have a Fascist as a President and Pelosi androgyne types all throughout government.

He is a parrot. He is useful idiot of the Soviets.

  • huey p newton is my hero for life rest in peace my bratha

  • i thought huey newton got murdered in 1989 who is this or wen was this made?

  • This was made in 2001 and was directed by Spike Lee. This play blew me away. Huey was killed during a drug transaction. But he is and will forever be one of my heros.

  • huey did not speak that fast!!

  • Where can I see the whole movie?

  • classic spike lee joint!

  • What's the tune at the beginning?

  • Sense this is Roger Guenveur Smith portrayin Huey P. Newton, no one can deny the fact that his performance was Oscar worthy. I mentioned the Oscars cuz when one analyzes the the numba of whites who get Oscars as oppose to blacks, how uneven is it? Well, it's obvious that Roger deserved one, & how many countless othas have been robbed of what was due them? The times they decide to credit us with an Oscar is when we play a crooked cop (Tranin Day) or get whipped (Glory). How free are we?

  • I saw this one man show before Spike Lee filmed it. Roger Guenveur Smith was incredible. All I can say, the Huey P. Newton Story was intense. I knew I had witnessed a great performance and play. By the way, Roger also wrote the play.

  • I hate it when people call em radicals, while they deny your rights, and rape you for 500 yrs.

  • @omglolsprayfart dont hate, people even blacks under the age of 30 will not know what it is to live during segregation and shortly there after

  • the huey one man play was a terrible portrayal of huey p. newton.huey was not an erratic lunatic and this dude is unfit to portray huey.kullmack mackull of the new black panther party for self defense and enlightenment.

  • Could someone post that film from Spike Lee? Were he's inside the holding pen, sitting in the chair? such an amazing acting job and powerful movie.

  • by the way... this guy aint Huey P. Newton.... he's the the actor.... this movie was directed by Spike Lee "A Huey P. Newton STory"

  • Yaknow what the sad thing is? I know so many "thugged" out black people who don't even know who the hell Huey P. is!? Where the hell has education gone these days? Oh yea! "No Child Left Behdind" AKA let's make all the kids dumber and give them good grades for it.

  • Ill tell you where it went dude. Schools dosent educate us about revolutionaries who could speak good and who was so very anti governmental(especialy when that government is the USA one..by very anti governmental i know what a revolutionary means but i mean as ''radical'' as they would liek huey t look like, because he was right about many things they an bring him up fora t least a couple of decades. Alot of what BPP wanted made alot of sense.

  • He talks fast.

    He condenses life stories'

...and a social revolution in minutes,

    through artistic interpretation.

    Don't get it? Keep trying...

  • Thanks for posting this. I saw the video of the actor doing the Huey P. Newton monologue before and I wished I could purchase it.Huey was before my time, but he was before his time too

  • ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE... who is the white guy talking about the gangster story? please anyone know

  • its orson welles

  • RIP Huey, Man was a true icon

  • Holy shit this guy talks fast

  • Because I whole heartedly accept you as mine.I believe that the only way a revolution could ever work is if PEOPLE,not black people or white people, but PEOPLE who have one singular thing in common stand up and tell the rich ghosts on the hill that we are sick of the system that they have built, and that the time to answer for their crimes has come. And when these evil men are "taken care of" I would hope that PEOPLE will sing hand in hand and realize that we dont have to hate eatchother, just them

  • amen.

  • I would like to pose a question to any socially concious black man or woman who would respond.I am a white man who has seen the worst in people, black or white, and I have come to understand many things about black oppression to which mainstream white america turns a blind eye.I dont claim to understand black culture, because, for the most part,I dont. But I feel it.Iv'e wept for black struggle.I consider myself a brother in arms. But to you sir or madam,I ask:Do YOU accept ME as a brother?

  • YES!!!! Any socially conscious black person (such as myself) would answer that with a big YES!! We must not discount our white brothers and sisters who helped in the struggle even back then.....the movement was about socially conscious PEOPLE working together not necessarily ONLY black people....but there were many whites who were very active in the movement and that is a fact that should never be covered up hidden or not acknowledged

  • The Weather Underground ! My Grandfather is black and he had very close ties with these great people.

  • I never herd him talk before... but brother Huey speaks the truth!

  • Huey is one of the few people who you could tell me the worst possible thing about him and my love and respect for him would not change at all.

  • The only people who believe that this intelligent and very missed man was nothing more then a "parasite" is lacking in any social progressive thought.

  • pls dont reply to "boils2" he has been leaving comments like that on this very video for months and months. I too was angry when I saw his comments months back, but then I thought to myself boils2 must have a very pathetic life.

  • I`m with you (Huey was the man) and anytime you get people like him. Others will always keep talking bad things about them... just like they still talk bad things about Malcom X

  • a klan's member i presume?

  • Huey was a great man. He did a lot for our community and he was also for the oppresed white people. No matter what, you can not tell me that a man who wants to feed children and protect his community is bad.

    peace.

  • Roger G. Smith is one of my favorite actor... I'm so entranced when I watch this..

  • Nice! Is that Roger Guenveur Smith who played in Panther? He played as the force to bring the Panthers down, and now plays as Huey. How ironic, huh? Great actor.

  • Marlon was in the house.

  • Real soldiers!!!
