I know, this game pissed me off so much with that. I would've given up if it weren't such an awesome song, and it isn't that hard really, but it's still easy to make one mistake.

First the medal, wait a bit til the game gives you the option to go for a "Perfect", pick the song, get a perfect... then you get the song.
