  • Thanks for posting this. I've heard a lot of their covers but never this one.

  • This was OBVIOUSLY "off the cuff". Don't know why some people on here commented like they were doing an actual SERIOUS cover of this song. If you pay attention...Jay just flirted with the opening just half assedly...sure it wasn't planned. I have played in plenty of bands where we did stuff like this just to fool around(someone just remembering a familiar riff)....so Band fans....just relax hahaha!!

  • putas madres,o so fuckin special

  • I was born a long time before this was made, but you have obviously been very much favoured, if you are to favour this clip because of your birthday!

    It's pure gold.

  • i dont know anything about this video nor do i care.... but it was filmed on the day i was born, ill favorite it.

  • Why so hostile? If Wilco and Son Volt are not your thing, don't listen. It's not like their songs are constantly on the radio or something.

  • just a little history- i agree.

  • Man, Tweedy was lucky to get a start with the likes of Jay and Brian...

  • i agree

  • Wow--Tweedy really sounds like Danko (probably not by accident). It's clear they could have done this song justice if they wanted to. But Jeff and Jay reuniting is less likely than the Allman Bros. letting Dickey back in. Too bad.

  • This reminds me that I need to dig out my old Coffee Creek tape.

  • Great Performance!!!

  • Well they....they get the chord changes right.

So Uncle Tupelo was mortal once in a while. Only goes to show how immortal they are. Were, I mean. Is it possible to be immortal in the past tense?

  • Tweedy was totally saving the day on this train wreck. Once again proving he is THE MAN.

  • I just watched the Band doing this live. I wanted to see what Uncle Tupelo would do with it. Well...now I know. :-(

  • all due respect to ut. i'll take rick danko and the band though on this one.

  • Well, they kinda got three verses in there. Great band. Great song. Drunken performance.

  • This is a disgrace to a beautiful masterpiece!

  • Jeff should have done it! I love Jay's voice, but he is way to wasted to sing here!

  • assholes can't even remember the words.

  • except Jeff, I like him alot.

  • Jeff's a true home skillet

  • too drunk or stoned to remember the verses in order, or the lyrics. jeff finally sings it straight on the "crazy chester". even tho he sings the exact same notes as the last waltz rick danko verse.

  • great reference to the waltz version. this clip is off the chain

  • this is amazing. THANK YOU.

  • Love it when Jeff takes over on the vocals... Much more passionate than Jay.

  • Greatest American band . . . EVER.

  • besides wilco

  • half past dead for sure.
