Stevie Wonder's sax player has a really interesting video on YouTube, describing Stevie's songwriting process. Just search "Stevie Wonder songwriting." It's cool.
The only way that I will stop listening to Stevie is if he decides to wear his pants down low showing off his underwear! However I really think that he will never-ever do that.
@johnv6477 Mmmm Yes - We are all craving the Divine Feminine now.. Stevie was so 2012 - way ahead of his time.. listen to higher Ground or You don't have to worry 'bout a thing. No not on fb.... but in the universe for sure.... flower seva
I remember when Stevie had the opportunity to have surgery which would've enabled him to see. He turned it down. I believe if he did receive this surgery, it would have hurt him mentally to see what this world is as far as color, and he would have lost his musical vision.
To the most cynical human, check out the mystery of some kind of higher creative
power in this song. God is in your heart... was always in my heart with this song. Absolutely brings you to a state of love that shows the way to something greater. After this, words are limitations. No clear answers, but just consider this song and smile!
i like to go to the time line near the end of the song were you can see it's going to en but Stevie kepps blasting like they may have had to make him quit singing! love Stevie!
i love the way he keeps modulating up and up at the end, without ever resolving. Can you musically capture "yearning" better than that? by the way - that's him singing, playing the piano, playing the bass, and playing the drums. Got Talent?
i remember walking down Brooklyn and Empire. late 70's i was a chasidic kid and only knew chasidich music. there was a big brown cadlliach blasting music and i heard that bass line and i had a powerful weird feeling like it was the first time i ever heard music
Think of New York in the 1970's when you hear this song. Manhattan, fire scape ladders; bell bottoms; Brooklyn; crowds; skyscrapers; 70's vehicles; etc.
After all these years, this song still gives me goose bumps; and fills me with so many dreams and memories. From one of a lengthy series of classic Stevie albums during a period of incredible artistic creativity for a true genius of Soul, Rock, Pop...just music.
All of Innervisions is incredible. Simply the best. This reminds me so much of my college days ... blasting this on the Quad ... pure heaven. It takes me back. One of the best albums ever.
Musically superb Stevie Wonder's Golden Lady is for the beautiful gold tone tanned women so close dear to me, heavenly love true blessings to the Cherokee tribe
@deanovila did someone say bruno mars was good? woww
ive listened to a few songs from that talentless artist. painfully bad. not just in taste, but in a lack writing capabilities and over egotistical. painful
this song got me through boot camp back in 1974..it along with barry white was the only 8track and music i had in basic training..then when i got to jump school at ft benning ga. i bought Skywriter by the Jackson Five. but this album i played throughout July 1974-Nov 1974. this song i played over and over again. what memories when i was only 18yrs old back in 74..where has the time gone?
I was born in 1970, and songs like this remind me of my early childhood, being like 4 or 5, wearing matching denim outfits with rhinestones and braids with beads, my mama and daddy had afros, life was simple and fun and black folk proud and sophisticated, or atleast aimed to be so. Those were the days... pre-Reagan and pre-crack.
I recently tuned into Radio 1derful and heard [ i must say with much amusement ] some josk dickey earnestly proclaim that " Bruno Mars was the new Stevie Wonder " .
Mygosh this is wonderful. Oh to have been able to take a tour in Stevie's mind while he was creating this beautiful piece. I bet his mind was filled with brilliant colors, images, sounds, and good vibes. I also love this Album cover; it sparks wonderment which I always love. All I can say is THANK YOU STEVIE!
@msdogooder "I also love this Album cover; it sparks wonderment which I always love." Its one of my favourites as well. It still fascinates me after 15 years.
I went to the university in 1972. I was glad to have stevie be there giving me this kind of musical inspiration. The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Alice Cooper, Elton John, Gordon Lightfoot, The Eagles, and all the other music I was hearing. My range to understand and appreciate what was around me was greatly appreciated. Thanks Stevie for being there for me since I was a kid, now as a 57 year old man. I love you. Joe

I personally think that whenever an UNdoubtably good song get's a few or more dislikes, must be from being pressed on purpose or even pressing it by mistake or Justin Beiber hating on great music. Or if not him, any other asshole who just looves to hate.
Stevie's view on life and love is so perfict. Couse I'm in love with a 'Golden Lady' like he's singing in this song... Thank you Stevie for writing a perfict song for me and my lady.
makes me create a montage of me looking good walking down town during the day, wind blowing in my weave.. and stevie creating the perfect entourage music.. Gotta <3 him ..

@GasconyKid When this was released i was 3 yrs old. i discovered it when i was in my teens and it is beautiful and dreamy. stevie has always been in my life. eventhough i wasnt your age when this was released, i was lucky enough to be 14 when the woman in red soundtrack came out. my fav song is its you.
I think if anyone gets where I am coming from that Innervisions is Stevie's SGT. PEPPER OR PET SOUNDS. Anyone who knows it from Too High to Misstra think so?
Well, Carrier3232, we used to say, back in the day that Stevie invented the "Stevie voice", no one did anything like him before him, you are right. everyone copied hime since, and maybe that is ok, people copy what they hear, but he invented, what he does......
Beautiful. Somewhat experimental though: first part I imagine a African woman dancing and an Elephant walking, second part a space movie, last part a Romantic movie or moondance theme by Van Morrison.
@Fl0Vid Experimental, huh? You're taking about 3 different deminsions, so I'm wondering if it's you whose experimenting. It's ok though I'm done it a few times myself. Stevie Wonder was not experimental with his music, he was/is creative. This is a "masterpiece" and it was written and recorded in what I think was his most creative period, 1972-76. You can call him outstanding, fantastic, exceptional, brilliant, or a creative genuis. Experimenting is a someone trying to discover something.
too bad kiddies of today don't have a musical guru to show them how to offer articulate heartfelt poetry to a lady who is like no other...translation: bangin' that thang is a coarse and ignorant anthem, unpoetic & making our young generation deficient in the realm of subtlety and romance...better turn off that radio, learn some manners, pay respect and treasure the female mind and form....that's from an 'ol player bwaa...
I was 15 (about 38 yrs ago) and blessed with a beautiful experience of first love. Its almost as sadly sweet how long and far from that person I am now . Regrets, not really, but what if I had married him? Could'a ,would'a,should'a...
One of my all time favorite songs. I can remember sitting on my living room floor playing this song over and over for hours thinking of my first love. It still gives me goosebumps 38 years later.
i started liking Steviie when i was 15 when i went on holiday and met 2 guys who played talking book and innvervions the whole week came back and was hooked i am now 51 and still love his music its timeless have seen him about 10 times in concert and he still gets more brilliant with age love you Stevie you are a genius
Anyone who dislikes the incomparable Stevie Wonder has no clue about anything, especially music. And people, please stop trying to remake his music. Some artist can not be duplicated because they are truly one of a kind, which he is.
So deep......Stevie is able to visualize sight - even though he's blind. I guess we cannot truly see unless we have 'inner vision'. But why did Stevie lose this vision in his music after The Secret Life Of Plants L.P. ?
@Zzuni1 Nah he ain't lost it. Hotter than July was another classic. Go back to In Square Circle, and listen to 'Never In Your Sun'. Go on to Jungle Fever and listen to tracks like 'Make sure your sure'. Go to the Bamboozled soundtrack and listen to 'Some Years Ago'. Stevie's gift and vision, expressed through song, is endless.
@RocketRodder POOR YOUTH...GET THE ALBUM..GET THE FULL EFFECT OF HIS INNERVISIONS....IT WAS "LIVING FOR THE CITY" KILLER BLEND...CAN'T REALLY GET THE FULL TRANSITIONAL EFFECT WITH COMPUTERS...BUT HEAR THAT FIRST, THEN THIS...I'LL BREAK IT DOWN TO YOU..1)TOO HIGH 2)VISIONS 3)lIVING FOR THE CITY 4)GOLDEN LADY (THIS 1 DUH) 5)DON'T YOU WORRY BOUT A THING 6) jESUS' CHILDREN OF AMERICA 7)ALL IN LOVE IS FAIR ..AND 8 WHICH IM A DUM DUM FOR CAUSE I FORGOT...BUT GREEAAAAT FROM BEGINNING TO END.
I hear this song and automatically think of sunshine, summer and flowing water!

Songs in the key of life and innervisions, two stevie Wonders greatest albums. When artist made their own music, sang their own songs.

I bought Innervisions about two years ago. I had never heard this song. It quickly became my favorite on the CD.

Anyone who dislikes the incomparable Stevie Wonder has no clue about anything, especially music. And people, please stop trying to remake his music. Some artist can not be duplicated because they are truly one of a kind, which he is.

I could live on Stevie's music alone

So deep......Stevie is able to visualize sight - even though he's blind. I guess we cannot truly see unless we have 'inner vision'. But why did Stevie lose this vision in his music after The Secret Life Of Plants L.P. ?

@Zzuni1 wHOA. good analogy. Great question

This song reminds me of Nicole Simpson-Brown. It always has. I wonder if OJ Simpson ever thought of her when he heard this song????

あまり聴かないが、この"インナヴィジョンズ"のスティービー・ワンダーは別格、特に"GOLDEN・LADY"は絶品、音が拡がってゆく!

I want to know what song fades into this. That random chord at the beginning had to come from SOMEWHERE.
