This guy is so good, it hurts to watch and listen. Congratulations, you are a fantastic guitar player, all your hard work has paid off, and I hope you have enough success so that you can play guitar as much as you want! Thanks for sharing your gift with the world!
Peter! Thanks so much. This is one of my all time favs! Congrats on writing such a timeless tune! One day I will learn this! See you Sept 23 at Nelson Odeon, just down the street from us! THANKS. S&MP
I got a chance to see him perform this live in a really intimate acoustic performance in Sligo, Ireland about six or seven years ago. It still stays with me. An amazing piece of playing.
I used to live in Boston, where I bought your 'Brother Rabbit Speaks' CD from you in the subway. I still listen to it often. I let about 10 trains go by one day so I could listen to you play. Hope Things are going well....you're very talented.
PS. I would love to see a video of you playing Rain Dog :)
@ears212 Thanks a million. That was a high compliment back then, missing trains to listen. I'm still on the road and all that, I think I've made 10 or 12 records since "Brother Rabbit". I hope all's well with you. PM

Long-time fan of this acoustic instrumental. Great to see it get such a lovely video treatment as well! Kudos to the producers on recognizing the value of letting the musician and his guitar be the center and not the production.
omg.. i dont even know what to say... how he plays.... its just you know he's not playin to just play or show off how good he is... you can tell is somethin he really loves and its deffinatly a part of him and part of his life.. thats almost enough to bring a tear to your eye.. wow
he is...yes...very good....and one of my biggest influences as far as my songwriting goes, but I wouldn't put him that high on a pedestal. Not sure he'd want that place anyhoo
vernontruth, do you not realize that sarcasm (or irony, which is not what you were using, wherever you got that crappy def) doesn't translate over text? No wonder everybody's attacking you on here. Ya big dummy.
Who the Hell is vernontruth... pete is gifted ... i've searched youtube for vernontruth and all i found is some fella who could fit his head up his ass.. any relation .... or are we a little closer
Uh, don't know if you have really short membory but you dissed Peter Mulvey in your first post and in your last say he is one of the most gifted. Either you can't make up your mind or you have split personalities. Quack quack u quack. Heheheh
Vernontruth - where is your youtube video of your guitar playing? I've seen pete 3 times live and he's pure genius. You probably wish you could play this well. No feeling or precision? Obviously, you've never seen him live you quack!
Absolutely amazing! Peter Mulvey is a first-class musician. This acoustic gem is fantastic, executed with ease, patience, and pure musicality. Very well done - it brought rain to my ocular globes!
Cool. Thnx

I've seen him live 3 times and every time is just as electrifying as the first. Keep on keeping on Pete cause you def got the skillz.

Yes he is really amazing and plays beautifully, he has a lot of Nick Drake influence , but who hasn't ?
jaroussky1 3 years ago
does anyone know what tuning this is? or is it really just standard with excellent octave use?
BradleytheT 3 years ago
He tunes to DADGAD, with a capo on six. Sometimes he'll tune a step lower... I've seen him play a few different variations of this over the years.
