@mixwb Where are you getting your information? This is the original recording with The Black Hearts. There is no cover with The Gunners and Joan Jett. The band doesn't even sound like Guns and Roses and you would definitely hear Axle singing with Joan Jett and it wouldn't be note for note especially during the solo. If the title was "I Love Rock and Roll by Cream" you'd be saying that it's a cover by Cream and Joan Jett.

No G&R inthis song;'s story. The Arrows wrote and recorded the original version of I Love Rock N Roll in 1975. If you look at the credits at the end of The Runaways film (Executive Producer of the film- Joan Jett) you'll see the Arrows members A. Merrill and J. Hooker are correctly given name checks in the rolling end credits, in spite of the film's misleading and bizarre "dream sequence" where Jett seems to dream up the song. She didn't.
