I love that they reused this for Metal Sonic's All-Star move theme in Sonic & Sega All-Stars racing.
Nothing like flying up the track at breakneck speeds while you've got a giant laser lawnmower attached to the front of your vehicle and this is playing while you're absolutely destroying everything in your path.
@flarn2006 This soundtrack was released in the UK as well. Although I did have a PS1 game from Japan that had a song with Japanese lyrics in it. I didn't mind, I like J-pop in games.
Robotnik's base was designed for everything to kill you, so you have to move quickly to avoid all the traps between you and the final showdown. Exterminating some Badniks along the way might make your life a little easier...
Well at the end of the day the orignal creators, programmers, level designers and composers of this game from the land of the Rising Sun are victorious. Japan wins the great Sonic CD music debate with Japan winning the final track at a score of 18 and the US version ends with 12. Metallic Madness belongs 2 the JP because who else would rule the electronic music world so well? Most of the Japanese tracks r better and I cant wait 2 get the latest installment of Sonic CD 4 both versions.
"Get outta here, this isn't for you! Can't outgun 'im 'cause he's coming for you! Gotta get through, you know the drill! Oh' you gotta know he's coming through! Get yourself, ready for the fight 'cause it's gonna be super! Yo, we're outta here..."
@Perfectedidiot21 you must be playing the USA CD. As the great music is in the JAP version. although sometimes, the USA keeps the past theme, as it is from the past version.
Ugh, no way. It just sounds like a variation on all the MM tracks. Which, I know, is what they were shooting for, but variety definitely has the upper hand here. The US track is MUCH more brooding.
@tibschris At least the music SUITED the game. A lot of the USA tracks sound as though they were placed in the wrong zone, even the Bad Future tracks, which was the only redemption that the USA tracks seem to have. Also, they were MEANT to resemble one another, since it's the same zone!
I understand completely that they were meant to sound similar. Sonic 3 and the like did the same thing, of course. And I know what you mean by odd placement—Quartz Quadrant seems a little inappropriate. But aside from the annoying "YAY" in most of the JAP Palmtree tunes, I prefer the US tracks specifically on the basis of variety, and would much rather listen to a playlist of them. Clearly this is personal preference.
@tibschris I looked up the USA sountrack again. You were right on some zones, e.g Stardust Speedway, which had quite good music (especially Bad Future), but some of the USA present tracks sounded too similar to the Good Future tracks, making them sound a bit too dystopic considering the darker nature of the USA songs; the main reason to why I don't think the USA soundtrack suited the Wacky Workbench Zone; especially the Good Future.

This metal factory is filled with machines. it is sort of depressing, yet upbeat. You can see metallic machines everywhere.

Some of them are even more annoying.
