I thought that the plot was great as it had several twists and it was interesting as to how Rapture came about and how the residents came about. Also, the shooting as well as the plasmids work well and introduced a new idea to shooters. I thought it was great. You should try it again, and, while you go through it again, you should beat all the Big Daddies and try to find as many audio logs as you can and listen to the cutscenes.
