  • I think power pads (like Duracell makes) that charge devices wirlessly uses this similare idea, I know that theres a pad and a dongle which clips onto cell phones.

  • FUCKING COMMERCAILS!!!! why the fuck did google have to take over youtube, fucking ass holes

  • I recently made one of these charge an ipod touch, using a valve amplifier I amplified the input from the function generator and put a rectifier bridge and a 4700uf 10v capacitor after it worked well.. for about 20 minutes then the tubes burnt out bummer.. also you will find if you make a bigger coil with thicker windings & turns (you'll need em i used 30 gauge wire and it heated up and was destroyed in minutes) you can decrease the resonant frequency and use the 555 timer instead.

  • 5,001 view. First time that ever happened to me. Sorry.

  • if you put a full bridge rectifier on after the secondary coil you will get more range, more voltage and more amps

  • man, i hate where i live. no one does this kind of r&d around me...ugh nice work though

  • @superxxmega yeah me too. if your on the same continent as me i will eat my toolkit

  • Is the led in the black box connected to anything else besides the wires?

    A rectifier or diodes maybe?

  • this is electromagnetic induction and there is plenty of power loss... i would say ny child can do it....

  • Excellent idea. Make a inductive charging stand... You could sell them on the airline magazines...

I've never seen a use for the Tesla pancake resonance coils. This is one great...

    Thank you for your knowledge.

  • Thanks, Yeah I think that would be easy and for laptops also..

You could make it into the tray that folds down...

    Paul..

  • awesome. this is wireless power. if only the oscilator circuit could be simple

  • It will be in the end and cheap! £2 per PIC.......

  • woah nice, awesome, ! i guess you being the cool person you are would make a univeral oscilator program w/ rotary encoder to select from many waveforms and frequencys. 2 rotary encoders i mean, 1 for changing frequency 1 for changing waveform

  • @rroge5 you can use the 555 timer ic!

  • weve got a "wireless" electronic tooth brush that works exactly like that. a AC power supply driving a primary coil (on a core) where the hand held part of the tooth-brush is been put on. in the handheld part is the secondary coil, with a rectifier and condensator if generates the power to charge the battery. so its a simple 2-parts transformer/transformator.

  • Yeah, but it is not as simple as that they have to be in resonance, try to make one and you will see its not as simple as first thought...

    Thanks for watching...

  • im a electronic engineer of communications.. but as i never worked on my job the last 20years i almost forgot anything about electronics :-P like today im courious how a simple coil without any additional R or C can be "in resonance" :) - stupid me. shouldnt had worked in IT the last 20 years. IT made me stupid. ...

  • You could put the coil under a mouse mat and have your wireless mouse with a coil in where the battery's would go, and run it without the hassle of the battery's running out half way thro a game.

    Just a thought

  • That would work well I think...

    Cheers!

  • actually those types of mouse have been around for a while

  • Is there? Have you got a link to one because I want one. :)

  • I love the resonance thing . Its like the magic bit of electronics , I put in 12 volts and pull out a rabbit heheh .. Maybe a cooked one ;) I think the term you were looking for is mutual inductance . Just dont ask me to do that formula for LC resonance or you may have to wait a while ,,, :$

    Cheers Paul !

  • Yeah, but the pancake coil is in resonance and the other coil is just a wrap....

You are right it is magic, and I will make a coil thats LC kewl and I will make it work....

    Thanks ZED

    ;-)

  • Would it increase the efficiency if the receiving coil was a pancake coil with the same resonance as the first one?

  • yes it would

  • Yeah, Earls right or if you tuned the second coil to be on the quarter wave or half wave of the resonant frequency...

  • you should get a old cell phone and make a coil for it so you can just replace it on there to recharge

  • Ill have a look for an old mobile phone so I can try it. I think the old nokia phones are 5v 0.5A so I need to get 2.5 Watts through the coupling.

  • Couldn't that clear the phone's memory, or unintentionally heat up some components inside the phone?
