This is my main serve haha, too beastly, and sll i need to do for a flat is pronate my wrist a little, leftie's luck woo, and yes i cand do it consistantly, use an extreme western grip, that makes a huge difference
@ispaht its not worth it because it messes up your normals serve... thats why no one teaches it, you have to use a forehand grip on the serve and pronate weird to get the spin. And once someone did learn to get it consistently, it would become easy to return because they would get used to the spin, just like a heavy slice or kick serve
@chankom yeah, i tried it after i saw the video. I could never do it before and i still can't. Not enough side spin i guess. It won't change direction when i do it.
This is the only serve I use. With enough power while keeping heaps of spin on it, it can be a very good unexpected serve. Most people dont bother with it as it it very uncommon, but I find the reverse serve to be fantastic If you can land it in :)
lol i made this shot today when i was playin my friend! except it flew up over my right shoulder, moved only left about an inch then side kicked to my right when i was serving to the deuce court. it moved about 3 feet side curve but i dint use nadal's grip i used an eastern.
actually, it is consistant if you know how to execute the serve. I play jv, and i learned this serve couple days ago. you can use either grip: semi western or continental. i use continental w/this serve because it's easier that way, but you get more spin if you use the semi western.
@Boomguy88 Most like a semiwestern grip. I've been practicing this serve for months and a semiwestern grip is what I use to pull that off. I suppose you could use western as well, but semiwestern allows you to serve in a setup similar to hitting a flat serve to better disguise it.
stupid that wassn't a twist serve, a twist would turn the other way when hit the ground that was slice down when the ball hit the ground, and is called a kick no one use the word twist for like never unless your watching prince of tennis too much
actually there is a difference because a twist tends to spin as a slice but the jumps to the other direction. a kick is a topspin serve with sidespin towards the servers rights for righties
Eh? A twist has some top and some side spin momentum. It is not a true slice. It is basically a kick serve but slightly tweaked by toss placement and hitting under and staying under instead of letting it go to the side on follow through as in the kick.
hit the ball from 9 o clock to 12 o clock to get a topspin effect but since its bouncing in a diff direction it bounces either wide in the ad court or forward in the deuce court, a twist serve at first looks like a slice serve but is cut diagonally making it bounce outward / in that direction
u guys are idiots. for right handed person, reverse serve slices to the left like a lefty slice. Its done by holding a semi western grip and carving it right to left.
whoa using the backhand side to serve!? thats not a reverse serve lmao, its the first serve he did. where his follow through was going down the center of the court but the ball went wide to his right
The serve? Since he's a righty, the spin should go towards the midline (backhand side), but if you look at it it goes the opposite way. Thatäs the "reverse serve" for ya :)

Wow. That serve could possible be a big weapon if someone learns to do it consistently.

Change the grip.
mysteriekiller 3 years ago
what grip did he use
Boomguy88 2 years ago
Could have been something like semi-western, something far from continental that makes you slice to the other side
mysteriekiller 2 years ago
he should be doing that more on the ATP tour
Boomguy88 2 years ago 4
Of course not, that's stupid. there is no way this serve will be as consistent, powerful and well angled as his normal serve.

lol I thought I invented this serve too T_T
It wouldve made the headlines...
Jaewon12345 3 years ago
Not really, sorry to break it to you. But I do think the correct name would be a lefty spin slice serve.

i tried this twice and hit my racquet against my left knee twice during a match (faulted both times) but I still won the match 7-5 4-6 6-1

i don't understand, u can change spin of serves to different directions like slice goes to the left while kick goes to the right.
linsam000 3 years ago
its fucking hard to switch from constantly going to slice serve then to reverse...youre going from right to left instead of left to right
