I didn't necessarily pick up on religious connotations. To me, it really seemed like a novelistic (hemingway in particular) allegory of progress, complete with the narrative visual language of film. ie, the ant as protagonist, the mushrooms as the brutal ascent of civilization/industrialization, the slug interludes as the passionate throttles of morally ambiguous supporting characters, etc etc. i liked it. except the shakiness in the beginning, it made me a bit dizzy.
This is a very nice work of art that you have produced! All the same, I'm not sure why you see it as an allegory for the spread of religiosity, or why you need to impose that reading on it. I liked it very much for what it was, even though I didn't agree with your interpretation / intention.
You sick bastard! godspeed causes weird days to people you know? and with your fungus vid i will have an weird night tommorow. thanks alot, I must eat 300 chicken saté's. thanks
"Terrible plagues of the mind" is awfully vague. Nice visual/audio. I love Godspeed. But I don't think syncing music up to nature clips constitutes harboring intellectual symbolism.
I wasn't thinking of my own tiny film as the symbolism, so much as the fungus itself. It's a natural symbolism; I just threw the bits together to point it out....also because I enjoy the music, and the particular species. and to the above poster, I am not sure which species it is that throws the veil. that clip is time-lapse though- that actually opccurs over the space of a few days.
i loved the effect of the grainy black and white vs the music! very well put together and exelent transitions from one clip to the next. could you be nice enough to tell me the name of the mushroom that seemed to have a veil burst out of the cap? i would appriciate it ^_^
