  • With some people you just know straight away you're not going to get on with them! God knows how many Stranskys there are in every workplace. Fortunately there's always a few Steiners to balance them out. I had exactly this situation working as a postman once. A stiff twat Office Manager who would sack people by the book, and a floor supervizor who would bend rules just to get the job done in the most sensible and bearable way for the workforce. Mark Speight, thanks if ur reading this!

  • @jegspillerpiano

right, in every workplace there's always a stooge around in the office. all those stooges seem to be connected to a collective consciousness of stupidity, and they act quite similar in the same kind of idiotic way.

  • at first, very good movie, thank you vincentyeo88 but i could also advise you to watch the movie Stalingrad, very emotinal movie from German production:

    /watch?v=slsuNSLHVEM

  • @ThugCologne

thank you for writing to me.

i'd bought the movie Stalingrad on DVD, and i'd ripped the ending part and posted it on my YouTube channel.

  • @ThugCologne I watched both back to back on DVD the other night:D

  • germans aren't nazi's! the biggest part of the whermacht didn't hate jews or anyone else for that matter they just thought(because of propaganda) that they where honoring their great country, and ok hitler was bad we get it but people seem to forget he did a lot of good things.

  • @yordi193

Yup, he introduced Volkwagen and Autobahn. (That's what I can think of)

  • вы были в СИБИРИ?

  • это книга гея фюрера, идиоты

  • these guys were just doing their duty. Please dont judge them too harshly.Nothing is ever so simple.

  • Guys, what are you talking about? How about the fact most waffen SS divisions was formed by not German. 2 of them was Russian, Ukrainian, 2 Estonian, Latvians, Litvanians, Belgians, French, Albanians,... and so on.... plus Russian national liberation army (general Vlasov), Ukrainian UPA (operated in Ukraine until late 1950th),...

Also Stalin kills much more people than anyone else (around 30 millions only Russians and Ukrainians in concentration camps in Sibiria)

    Don't judge other to fast

  • The best army in the World!

    Greeting´s from Germany!!!

  • @93Archangel they ended up the 4th best Army in Germany

  • You mix the Eastern Front with Sam Peckinpaugh you got the bloodbath of all time!

  • saluting on the front line... really?...

  • 83% germans voted for Hitler.

    83% Geramns= Nizis

  • @mp3hipnozy what is a Nizi you mother fucker? haha....your mother is a nizi^^

  • @LordKrimeMinister this are historical facts, very easy to check. You are fool.

  • @mp3hipnozy Well....83% Germans may have voted Hitler, because Hitler promised food and work. Thanks to France and Britain, Germany was practicly destroyed economically after WW1. Hitler just promised change for misery. Hitlers voters arent same as Nazis. You can push your ''historical facts'' to your ass. Better learn some history before coming to tell these ''facts'' -.-

  • @JohQx3 Tell who were those mystical Nazis, if not germans?

I live very close to germany`s border and I know very well that germans did it.

Nazism was just ideology but all crimes were done by Germans. Too long history with them you could teach me anything. There is no nazi nation. There were Germans who were nazis and had full society support for war.

  • @mp3hipnozy I never said Germans wouldn't be Nazis. Of course some part of Germans were Nazis...But you said that 83% of Germans voted Hitler ->83% of Germans are Nazis. That just isn't true. And societys full support for war? Have you ever heard about fancy little thing called propaganda. Hitler managed to make it seem like France and Britain would've been ''the bad guys''...After all, they were the ones who decleared war to Germany. Most of Nazis were Germans, but fact German=Nazi is false.

  • @mp3hipnozy Only 43.9% voted for Hitler in the elections of 1933 and he wasn't he even elected president, the support waned in 43 and onwards, that's the whole point of a dictatorship keep the citizens under control with the military and do what you want

  • According to your logic, all Americans are killers of innocent Iraqi children and women? The US destroyed Afghanistan and that's my fault? Hell no - don't give me that blood. Leaders take the country to war, whether the people want it or not. Ready Henry V, for example.

  • @pound7

Hm, what is there to destroy in Afghanistan? It's practically mountains and desert all over.

Also, last time I checked the Al Qaeda is still operating there, and their fighters are far from beaten. A few of them have fled into Pakistan, and yet we don't see Pakistan being made a villain in media. Wonder why?

Afghanistan is pretty much hell on earth, and to think people even live there...

Sam Peckinpah was a master of making gritty depictions of war.Nobody like him today, unfortunately

  • love leo kessler books are they real?

  • @ slick4401 the german titel is not "the willing flesh" it´s "Steiner- Das Eiserne Kreuz" greetz from Hamburg, Germany.

    cheers lads

  • This is a very good movie.

I also recommend reading the book The forgotten soldier by Guy Sajer and

Blood Red Snow by Günther K. Koschorrek. Both really good books telling about the german soldiers during eastern front ww2.

  • @TJ76no

thank you for writing to me and sharing with the viewers.

  • @TJ76no I read The Forgotten Soldier almost 20 years ago and recently read it again. I was and still am stunned that a movie was never made from the story. I've read hundreds of books and The Forgotten Soldier to me is on the very same level as All Quiet On The Western Front.

  • The first film I ever bought!! I recommend everyone reading the book by Willi Heinrich. The original German version's title is "The Willing Flesh". The English version's title is "Cross of Iron". The names of some characters have also been changed. In the original book Coronel Brandt's name was Strauss and Lieutenant Mayer was Schäfer. Look into Casell Military Paperbacks. I've seen it available on Amazon. Bought my copy in a bookshop in London. It is a fundamental read. Cheers!

  • @slick4401

thank you for writing to me and sharing this information with the viewers.

my very first DVD bought many years ago was Von Ryan's Express. cheers!

  • @slick4401 A great video of a favorite. I have to admit though - I read this book and it's companion piece "Crack of Doom" and didn't really like either. Could have been the translation but they seemed very dry and full of allusions to German political and cultural issues I didn't really grasp. Thanks for posting this.

  • @slick4401 "The first film I ever bought!!" Me too! It stands as my absolute favorite war movie!

  • @slick4401 Heh, I bought a budget DVD of this movie after finding it in a bargain bin. I t was about half way through that I started to think "hang on a moment this all is starting to be a bit familiar". So I dug up an old paper back that I found in my grandpas house that belonged to my dad in his youth, and it was indeed that book. I had read it about five years before that. An interesting revelation.

  • I was an officer and the only thing a corporal would talk about is beer, pussy and football. In movies, they become philosophers. Pathetic.

  • @SiegfriedRatel Perhaps back in day was different. And also you were officer in wich army?

  • @ImperialGuard9001

I don't believe in the "old days were better" as far as the military goes. I was in the Belgian army, infantry. Drafted!

  • The real High Definition.....!

  • Those soldaten are slow to take cover

  • not taking prisoners is one of the biggest and dumbest mistakes the germans made in WW2

  • They took POWs and let them do slave labour in ammo factories and stuff like that.

  • @NKA23 i'm not sure i was aware that they took RUSSIAN POWS though. Stalin orders people who retreat shot and the germans take no prisoners... thus the russians fight fanatically against the germans, they picked their own lesser evil.

  • Oh, they did...most POWs were Russians actually...but they were often forced to work until death.

  • @NKA23 interesting, thanks for expanding my knowledge of the subject.

  • You are welcome.:-)

  • love this film^^

  • one of my favorite world war II movies on my list. Peckinpah was genius who knew how to tell a story. knowing Peckinpahs attitude the way i have read about his i bet you a million to one, that would he would hate all this CGI stuff we have today.

thank you for uploading this friend and thank you Penckinpah for creating great movies.

    later friends

  • @hanno21664 thank you for watching this video clip.

  • lol ,i don't know why every time i raise my arm .things always explode

  • so, did they shoot the kid?

  • hw shoot in the air

  • they usuluay said they would kill em!, but in the forest they tell em to run away & the russian always nervous of getting blasted!!!, happened many times if they didnt get caught by a nazi fanatic!!!▐▐▐

  • the crimes were committed by nazis not germany

  • @burnleyboy01

yes and those nazi criminals were eskimo?

  • @mihanich no but the country suffered as a whole for individual actionsplus Hitler was austrian if you really want to go into their nationalities

  • @burnleyboy01

    AUSTRIANS=GERMANS. different states, same ethnicity

  • @mihanich no their two seperate coubnntries thats like calling people from portugal spanish

  • @burnleyboy01

check your facts. comparing spaniards and portuguese isn't the same as comparing germans from germany and germans from austria. as i know, rolling "r", different sorts of beers, dialectal features and yodeling are the only things distinguishing austria from deutschland.

  • @mihanich how are austrians the same ethnicity as people from Germany they are two countries with different passports, sports teams, anthems and flags they ave similar dialect and have many things in common but so do both sides of Ireland

  • @burnleyboy01

and again: same ethnicity, different states. so what if they have different football teams? SO??? you can divide france into two countries but there's still only one french nation. moreover, during the ww2 austria and germany were united in a single german state.

  • @mihanich so germanys been around for 150 odd years and because they were unified with austria for about 7 along with other neighbouring countries that makes them the same instantly?

  • @burnleyboy01

ok. all nazi criminals were austrians. are you happy now?

  • @burnleyboy01

And Germany naively voted the nazis into power. Evil people have no power in a world where fools don't believe in their tired old cliches.

Not blaming the German people, but dodging responsibility as if it wasn't perfectly obvious what Hitler wanted to do if you ever read Mein Kampf, is hardly noble.

FYI, the Wehrmacht DID commit a lot of crimes in war, and although not on the SS Einsatzgruppen level, they still executed a lot of civilians.

  • It's a damn crime you don't have "Sam Peckinpah" listed in your video Tags.

  • i've added Sam Peckinpah onto the video tags.

  • @vincentyeo88

Peckinpah fans of the world thank you sir.

  • you're most welcome.

  • Stranski was such a perfect cast.

  • its unclear to me, that is the actor of stransky acting in "a bridge too far" as one of the german high officers?

  • Yeah! I think it's the "Arnheim zerstören" guy!

  • Yes, but as far as the last surviving members of the original Magnificent Seven go, I think Mr. Buscholz in the only one still alive.

  • He is. He's James Coburn.

  • definitely Coburn-great versatile actor

    -from magnificent 7

    -only survivor now?

  • No, I think that Horst Buscholz is still alive.

  • Steiner is definitely James Coburn

  • It's not Buscholz...: Bucholz

  • Steiner is an American actor? Looks like James Colbern

  • WWII German films are always shitt when Germans speak english.Germans shuold speak German. They should make films like this one in German with english translations.

  • not necessary 'coz it is the producer's take to choose the language of the film.

have you ever heard of a saying like he who pays, calls the tune.

  • also, you only need to imagine that the language is in German. We all know German's spoke German, it's not necessary to have it in German. Just make believe you are one of them, which si why you understand every word like its your own language.

  • right and thank you for your contribution.

in Singapore, the TV stations telecast many Hong Kong and Korean movies and they dubbed them in Chinese Mandarin language.

  • I like Steiner's toughness.

  • One thing I love about these older movies is that there is no cartoonish computer made blahaa.

Valkyrie had many real scenes, the junkers and so on. Unusual for a modern movie. Really made a difference, for the better.

  • yeah i really don't like the cartoonish computer shit in all the action movies today.

  • So Steiner is that brave grandfather? Lol, seniors can be heroes too. Combat grandpa's kick ass

  • Saving Private Ryan... What is this amateur night at the Doll House?

SPR was a good flick, but it will hardly go down in history as the greatest or even best ww2 film. The combat scenes are epic, but as a historic piece, it doesn't hold a drop of water. There were no snipers on Omaha or Utah on June 6, sorry Jackson. Airborne & SS??? To the credt of Spielburg, he cleaned up the historical inaccuracies on B.O.B.

Try Das Boot or Downfall if you're really interested in good WW2 films.

  • good suggestion.

i have Das Boot movie on DVD but not Downfall.

  • Das Boot remains high on the list of great WW2 films. I definitely recommend Downfall. It's very well done. Also, if you like Cross of Iron, Stalingrad should be on your list.

  • i have Stalingrad on DVD too, and i may want to buy that Downfall DVD soon.

  • Okay first of all let me say I wholly agree with you that Downfall was a better motion picture on WW2 than SPR. That's a fact.

However I must ask. How the hell do you know there were no snipers on Omaha Beach? Where you there 64 yrs ago? I do believe you didn't even exist?

  • It's pretty much a known fact that no snipers took part in the D-Day invasion. Whether or not I was alive at the time is not really pertinent to the argument. My point was and is that SPR is full of historic inaccuracies. Paratroopers did not wear helmet nets with large squares. The paratroopers did not challenge each other "Thunder - Flash." The challenge was "Flash - Thunder - Welcome." By the time the Rangers met up with the paras, that challenge would have not been used. It's a fact

  • Yeah I gotta agree with the fact that SPR was full of historic inaccuracies; one inaccuracy I still recall is the close cropped hair of the Germans. The fact is German Wehrmacht or SS troopers did not wear their hair short (as it's used to in Modern armies). They slicked it back in the 40's style.

  • A lot had short on the sides for official photos (officers only). Junkers would shave their heads so their saber scars would show. Soldiers in the lines were infested with lice, and would shave ALL OVER to give the little critters less of a place to hide.

  • I once watched a history channel program, about a US sniper who landed on Utah beach and fought in the bocage. However US snipers were rather hard to come by in Europe, but there were quiet a few in the pacific.

  • I watched this movie in russian

  • I Thought Steiner is a Sergeant ?

  • I liked this movie, but I think the battle sequences were overblown by Peckinpah.

  • this movie has great slow mo's

  • this is my most favourite ww2 film, because its realistic without the american heros bullshitwhere the german don't hit one soldier, but the american soldiers are like snipers xD

this film shows us the real situation of gemran soldiers with the real nazis and the ppor guys who HAD TO fight

  • German soldiers speaking with British accents...yeah, that's realistic.

  • "German soldiers speaking with British accents"? Dude its a fucken movie!

  • A very old movie.. don't expect all actors to speak german

  • saving private ryan is one of worst movies i've ever seen, the script was so lame..

was like "yeah let's save this fucker just 'cause his brothers died, he is so important to the army"

  • Dude, are you insane or just plain old stupid? Saving Private Ryan is one of the BEST WW2 films to date.

"You put me and this here sniper rifle, andwhere between 5 miles of Adolf Hitler, with a clear line of fire, pack ur bags fellas, war's over.....amen" - Private Jackson.

That's one hell of a script to me.

  • you are the only ones who still believes the usa won the war, the russians were the ones who made most of the work.. did you know that the british were the ones who landed first the d-day? not the us soldiers, as presented in spr, this kind of movie is for people like you, people that knows shit, and have faith in what the TV says

  • WTF DUDE?! I KNOW THE U.S DIDN'T WIN THE WAR YOU RETARD!!!

    I never said it did!

  • That is a line, not a script.

  • WOW......a line is part of a script you dumbshit.

  • How can a line refer to the ENTIRE movie?

A script would refer to a general summary of the movie.

"You put me and this here sniper rifle, andwhere between 5 miles of Adolf Hitler, with a clear line of fire, pack ur bags fellas, war's over.....amen" -

So the entire movie is about a guy with a sniper rifle going after Hitler?

No that is a line in the movie.

  • you just deserve the epic win prize

  • lol dude that line has nothing whatsoever to do with the script of that movie.

And btw... what jackass would ever send a CAPTAIN in command of only 8(or 7, I can't remember) to rescue some random trooper, because he lost 3 of his brothers.... just the captain in himself is more important to the army.....

  • Yup, they should have send a general to get Ryan back.

That way, he can order Ryan back without having Ryan talked him back on defending the damn bridge.

  • He didn't listen to a captain, so would a General make any difference? They both outrank him just the same. Ryan wants to fight, so let him die in my opinion, and save a lot of trouble and other's lives in rescuing him

  • Really the best movie about the eastern front. But u also see a negative thing of the german army in history and oday. That oficers are ower their men, equal if the men are much experienced as himself. Just look at all th nice medals steiner ot, Nahkampfspange, EK2, sturmabzeichen. Steiner is ordered by a inexperienced officer who dont have a idea about whats going on.

  • the command and order in the army work from the top down the ranks, and have nothing to do with experience and seniority.

  • that russian prisoner was like 10

  • come on , guys!! that's just a movie .

you all have to grow up .

  • make no mistake that a movie like this could separate the audience into two sides.

but of course it's just a movie, no doubt about that.

  • Now dont get me wrong I hate hitler and i hate nazis. But you have to respect the german army and the german high command. The tactics they used were absolutely amazing. the only reason why russia won was because of the massive manower they could pull from and the T-34. I wont argue who was worse hitler or stalin because they both killed millions of people and both deserve to rot in hell. the german army and the russian armys simply acted as any invading army of that scale and time would do.

  • thank you for your comment.

  • a balance comment without being political.

  • It is political

  • it didnt come across so i must have read it wrong. good day to you.

  • learn some history and say that again.

    you'll prove yourself wrong

  • no you dont need to have respect for people who fought for dispicable ideals and caused the death, suffering and sorrow of millions.

  • @deathrow898 this is true, but the german high command was actually a lot less flexible. once stalin got over his initial denial of the invasion even taking place, he was open to ideas and called on his generals to lend their expertise, whereas hitler usually made the big strategic decisions, with little idea of what was happening on the ground.

  • @deathrow898 i dont want to try and tell you how to think, but consider this angle on Stalin v Hitler.

Hitler took over Germany after humiliating defeat & economic depression. He managed to unite the country and address the huge economic crises. Aside from war-time politics/racism Hitler wasn't a bad leader...

Stalin on the other hand...had no qualms with sending the entire population of Russia to die for Stalingrad; then went on to murder millions more who dared to disagree with him.

  • @deathrow898 Actually, by rights the Germans shouldn't have stood a chance against the USSR; the Uoviet Union had a much larger population and industrial base and neither side ever had any significant advantage in technology. Indeed, that's why the USSR eventually won. The reason the Germans did so much better in combat than the Red Army was that Stalin had spent the six or seven years leading up to the war murdering 90% of his officers and replacing them with idiots.

  • @deathrow898 Actually, by rights the Germans shouldn't have stood a chance against the USSR which had a much larger population and industrial base when neither side ever had any significant advantage in technology. Indeed, that's why the USSR eventually won. The reason the Germans did so much better in combat (they were good, but not that good), than the Red Army was that Stalin had spent the six or seven years leading up to the war murdering 90% of his officers and replacing them with idiots.

  • Why do a lot of people here feel the need to defend Hitler? He didn't gave a damn about the German people. Stalin was an monster, i agree. But so was Hitler, no matter what you say.

  • Ask most older Germans about Hitler and they will answer he built the Autobahns. Most say they knew nothing of the concentration camps.

German soldiers captured by Russians were kept in Russia as slave labour for some years after the war. Some came back screwed up. Most were just normal guys who had to go to war.

Their women after the war did what they had to do to survive. Including sleeping with their husbands enemies.

War has a strange effect on humans.

  • Politicians couldnt even take part in a trad martial arts none contact competition. No way could they attempt to fight a war.

Be a joke to even see some of them in swimming attire.

  • Putin could fight martial arts

  • next war, lets send all the politicians instead of soldiers

  • it's a novel idea, but who will do that job?

  • Ah man that Stranski is going to be a pain in the ass for Stieners platoon.

  • Stalin killed 8x more than Hitler, Mao killed 12x more than Stalin. Of course it comes to what kind of religious people were killed but forcing people to work in freezing environments with summer clothes, letting family etc disappear, or torture people which Mao and Stalin were masters in, well, I would have preferred to be gassed and get it over with, instead of dying anyway through working as a slave or seeing my family killed in front of my eyes.

  • never give up fighting those murderous dictators and tyrants. everyone like you counts and that's what living in a free democratic society is all about.

contribute to blogs, websites, video-sharing sites like YouTube, and civic organizations to give freedom to everyone.

  • Right! The difference is that Germans now are ashamed of Hitler, the Chinese and the Russians celebrate Stalin and Mao as heroes. Just at the moment there is a poll in Russia and the "national hero" is elected to be Stalin. The weired thing is just that in the case of Mao and Stalin, most of their victims were their own people! Hitler killed mostly foreigners and jews (which he did not count as Germans, although many of them were war heroes from WW I). Humans are strange creatures!?!

  • Everyone talks bad about hitler jugend where the Russians were 10x wth sending 14 year olds, unarmed even into battle, then they make all this glory that it was them that ended WW2.

Pathetic, all of this is absolutely ridiculous

  • True and Stalin killed more innocent people then Hitler did!!! so who was more *EVIL* if thats how people out it

  • No just that, Stalin sent wemon to fight for him. The only way the Russians defeated the Germans was because Stalin army outnumbered the Hitlers army. Thats why I agree with phili878, everyone looks at the Germans and Hitler as murders.

  • that was just a kid...

  • hollywood....

  • nice attack scene

  • hey umm do u kno the names of the woman russian soldiers cuz i want 2 look up the 1 in the bath tub lol mayb c her in her prime

  • Google wikipedia, names are there.

  • not woman russian soldiers i cheacked

  • Ah, ok. They might be at the end of the movie. You will have top buy it to find out. Cheers.
