I have two male rats, they are currently in an aquarium with a tank topper and are getting a bit bigger and one is getting a little territorial. Do you think this cage is big enough for two males? I just want them to have their own space and their cage now I don't think supplies enough of it.
@sora1axel1lovr it depends on how big your males are. i used to have two males and they were huge! they definitely would not fit in a cage like this. if you have small males then they should be fine.
@stuffedtater they're getting pretty fatttt. haha. I was also thinking of ordering one off ebay. I found 4 a pretty decent size 4 level cage on there but idk how reliable that would be.....
@stuffedtater if I got a critter nation my mom would kill me lol. I would absolutely love to get them one but I need one that can still stand on my dresser. would you mind giving me martin's official website? I typed it in and got like 5 web pages. also the one I saw on ebay is 30" in length and 36" in height? is that still small? sorry I'm not good at comparing measurements. I know it's bigger than the rat manor though.
@KandiAcid thanks! yes, it is a pain... it's hard to clean and the doors are too small to fit any large accessories through them. but, it works well enough....
@Theratchannel161 the spaces on the wire shelving are small enough that they don't need it. also, the thought that bumblefoot is caused by wire shelving is a myth. it's dirty conditions that really cause it. wire BOTTOMS on cages may lead to bumblefoot, but shelving (especially with small spaces) are fine.
@stuffedtater And the wire bottoms wont do anything as long as you keep it clean and give them lots of solid places to play. I have a wire bottom and I've never had a problem with bumbble foot.
i absolutely love your cage and your girls are so cute!!! i was wondering how you made the coconut house and the cute little blanket house on the bottom of the cage. Also where you purchased your wheel. Thanks!!!
@sarahchristine617922 i bought the coconut house at a pet store. it's actually for birds but it works for them. actually, a lot of bird toys work make perfect rat toys. the wheel is a wodent wheel. i got mine at theratshop(dot)com
@RattieLover22 It's the Petco Rat Manor. It's a cheap cage, I know, but I managed to make it work for them. The dimensions are just big enough for two females like mine (one is a runt).
